Not too bad actually...might get the Chukka to replace my current loafers. The question now is...EB first or Loake first :s13:

Haha yes, was eyeing of the double monks from Enzo but, don't know if I will bear to wear it around industrial area...Are single/double monks supposed to be slip on though? Or is the buckle/strap just very easy to remove/put on?

Any recommendations on who/where to send my beat-as-hell and overly abused shoes for polish/touch up?

1. Enzo or Loake depends on your budget and comfort level. Recall you mentioned you cannot bear to wear Carminas to industrial area and Enzo costs more than Carminas....

2. From my personal experience, monk shoes are not supposed to be "permanently" buckled and worn as slip-ons. If you could do that, chances are the fit is too loose.

3. Try shoeshine uncle PetiaC who incidentally re-surfaced last evening after a long hiatus.

har? like that also consider trolling?

Btw, the term "need to bite the shoe" can easily replace,

"Does the side of the shoe bites?"
"Will the back of the shoes rub the heels so badly that it causes blisters?"
"Will there be unforeseen/unexpected pain wearing the shoe?"

OMG..........

Please let me know if I am not worthy to be in discussion in this thread.

thanks.

Might I suggest doing a bit of reading about shoes first? A good place to start would be http://www.theshoesnobblog.com/tag/things-to-know

Generally speaking the conversations in this thread are on a much higher level than the average joe would have, which would explain the reactions to your posts.

noted. maybe asking simple questions here is inappropriate. Everyone has their first time. Despite me reading the blogs and knowing about shoes, when will it be a good threshold for me to ask questions?

I believe I am unworthy.

Thanks

Well dude... You don't show you're unworthy of selling insurance towards your clients nor ask em to read between the lines like using "bite shoes before wearing" yes?
Ask concise questions. Show some maturity.
If you had read up about construction of shoes, where the heck does "military grade" comes in?
From what I see.. Everyone has been providing you great links for the type of boot you require.
You don't even bother to go in the links and add the shoes to cart to check after VAT and BF sales code how much it costs.
So bud.. Unworthy or not, continue to enquire and we shall reply regardless. And it's up to you to follow up on your own.

For my first pair of GYW, answer to all of the above was "yes"

I apologize if I lack maturity to ask concise questions.

Again, I apologize for failing to see the point that military usually gets the cheapest quote to deliver at the lowest cost. However, when "military grade" is mentioned, first that come to mind would be toughness, reliability and durability.

From what I see.. Everyone has been providing you great links for the type of boot you require.
I truly appreciate the feedback and the response from various seniors here to guide me along.

My maiden purchase of a pair of shoes with ASOS, it was a disaster. I am trying to be careful here. I am not sure how shipping works in this case and its return policy. I see many seniors here fluent in the process of getting the shoes they want and I am asking "silly" questions like a newbie. When I saw the prices after conversion, I was quite taken aback. I have never bought a pair of shoes that's over $200. I am not pointing fingers here. But just felt like a newbie interested and yet lost in everything.

I think better not, least I am deemed as trolling, (when I am truly genuine).

.

Thank you.

thanks bro.

my impression of a good shoe, or rather, when I am spending top dollar (max SGD$300.00), I would expect the shoe to be comfy.

But appreciate your response.

Half a day with EB, the left inner ankle does rub and slight discomfort and I think it is my gait (need to walk properly !) besides this it is a great pair of shoes! Now I understand what a fit should be, what are my preference topy or not and previous pairs are slightly too big. What a journey

Once you have EB... You won't go back to Loakes. The difference in quality is tremendous.

Get a double monk with dainite sole or just vibram it via local cobblers. Leather soles will soak up just about anything from pee puddles.

Double monks are easy to slip in once you break in the shoe.

I drop some of my shoes off to Shoe Shine Redemption at raffles. 15 bucks. Saphir products. Good results. Couple of days wait.
You just made me regret the loake I just purchased that is coming soon.

Looks like I need to resole my leather sole to dainite.

I guess you meant to ask "does the shoe bite?" Instead of "need to bite the shoe?"

Yes all leather boots generally needs to be broken in.

U buying leather shoes or Nike Air?

To be fair, for the average man on the street (who does not take an interest in GYW, hand-welt, corrected grain vs full grain and all these stuff), SGD300 is an above average budget for leather work shoes.

its my maiden purchase for such upmarket shoes. I would consider these the finer things in life, just as much as the topics discussed in Men's Wet Shave.

My retail sphere of influence are mainly perdo or aldo for that matter. And for shaving, I don't have the luxury to use a hot towel with the brush to foam up the shaving cream nor using a professional blade. Gillette and eversoft facial foam are the common things I am exposed to.

Apologize if I sound sua ku.

"Need to bite the shoe" is actually folk wisdom. So in that context he's actually using the right expression.

interesting. While this is not the right thread, curious what sort of shirt/jacket/pants you are looking for that a tailor cannot (or will not?) deliver.

I am not looking for any shirts but in the threads below, (I do read recommendations... fyi), Lusso was one of the recommendations and I checked out the website. There was a contact link and I contacted Ryan which he mentioned that they do not do high cut boots. ;)

Mil spec boots under $300 for you. I hope this manages to put your search to an end.

Not necessary to resole it. Get a reliable cobbler to cement on vibram or topy rubber soles will do.
