Mil spec boots under $300 for you. I hope this manages to put your search to an end.

Bro, thanks for the link. However, I have a pair of SWAT which I am wearing to work almost everyday.

What I am looking for is something that I could wear a suit with.

To mention $300 SGD is like researching on a South Africa restraint for the first time and looking at the prices on the food menu. There is a budget of $300. However, the true reflection might be more than that.

If a pair of good office boots cost $600 and it fits all my requirements, why not? Or in another words, do I have a choice of paying the price or walking away? I am sure in such upmarket space, bargaining would be an insult both to the workmanship of the clobber and the person buying it.

I am sorry and I need to apologize again for being so green. I want to learn, regardless.

Just try Loake 1880 series boots if they have it in black, at this price point probably one of the most value boots you can get. $150-190 GBP after VAT deduction with free shipping during promo period. (Which almost happen once a month)

At first I honestly thought you were trolling, now I'm not too sure.

Found this

helpful as it gives a good overview on leather shoes.

Once you have EB... You won't go back to Loakes. The difference in quality is tremendous.

Get a double monk with dainite sole or just vibram it via local cobblers. Leather soles will soak up just about anything from pee puddles.

Double monks are easy to slip in once you break in the shoe.

I drop some of my shoes off to Shoe Shine Redemption at raffles. 15 bucks. Saphir products. Good results. Couple of days wait.

Yes, good idea. My Carmina's have a lot of "sand" stuck to the sole so sometimes it sounds like I'm walking on sand in shopping malls :s22:

1. Enzo or Loake depends on your budget and comfort level. Recall you mentioned you cannot bear to wear Carminas to industrial area and Enzo costs more than Carminas....

2. From my personal experience, monk shoes are not supposed to be "permanently" buckled and worn as slip-ons. If you could do that, chances are the fit is too loose.

3. Try shoeshine uncle PetiaC who incidentally re-surfaced last evening after a long hiatus.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind paying more for Enzo as they are a more premium brand. And at this point, both pairs are more of a want than a need. My daily beaters are still serving me well for days I have to step into industrial areas...

Will check out shoeshine uncle too, thanks!

The boot I shared yesterday was a pair of Loake 1880s (Hyde).

You may also want to consider local brand Ed Et Al located at Millenia Walk. They do carry some boots models for which you can MTO in black. Believe it will cost $600 upwards though..

From various inputs so far, I think thundermarch's suggestion on the Carlos Santos boots in black best meet your requirements. Can consider re-visiting the link in his post.

He also mentioned he might be keen to get it himself for his ICT obligations, you may want to PM him to see if can tompang/or have him guide u along.

Good luck!

Anyone can recommend some office shoes that accomodate wide feet and orthopedic insoles? Basically needs to be wide and the arch support needs to be not very aggressive so that i can add on my own insoles. Existing insoles need to be on the thinner end as well so that my heel doesn't slip out with the addition of my orthopedic insoles.

Budget around 300-400. Looking for something that can last 3+ years with minimal care. Size is around US 11.0. Got such magical leather or not? Prefer to try the shoes in person rather than buy from online due to my weird feet.

Hope someone can help a newbie out. Currently looking at yanko shoes at lusso tailors but it is a bit out of budget. Might want something with dainite soles instead though.

I AM NOT TROLLING. But bro, have you tried Scolls? My mum had some issues with her shoes/feet and after wearing a pair of Scolls, she feels better.

Try LLYR or EEA which has shop front to try shoes. I think not so much of the brand but the type and last. Try the LLYR wholecut which are fairly wider and comfortable.

I think minimum care to last 3 years is going to be tough to achieve for leather shoes as daily beater...

What you need are probably shoes with removable insoles which most of what is being discussed here will not be able to fulfil your requirements.

You should ask around the common retail shoe stores to see if they have such shoes.

Your budget does not allow you to custom make your shoes which in such cases may allow allowance to be made for additional insoles to be fitted.

In any case, you'll likely need to up your budget even for the common shoe retail stores.

The only ones I can think of that can fit your requirements without busting your wallet would be boots. They are generally more forgiving even if you are wearing a larger pair.

What I am looking for is something that I could wear a suit with.

First and foremost

you need to learn the difference between oxford and derby style of lacing. Which I've already told you to note before

If typical work wear shirt/pants, sure you can wear open laced derby shoes/boots.

If you're going to be in a business suit, you should really be in closed laced oxford shoes/boots

This will really dictate the type of boot you'll be getting and will affect the price as well. (Derby boots are normally more common/cheaper)

So read up, narrow down to what you require instead of wanting everything.

I don't think has to be removable insoles as mine is meant to be stacked on top of an existing insole. The existing insole just can't be so thick such that adding the orthopedic insoles will leave little heel depth for me. I'll head over to Robinsons' and check out the Clark/Loake/Ecco/Hush Puppies I guess.

EEA has got a promo now, I think. Not sure if the shoes are made from an inferior material from their usual, since I recall seeing an upcharge listed for 'premium materials'.

Maybe their have finally realised that a portion of their clientele have moved on to the other shoemakers listed in this thread.
