Would this be to your liking? http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/produ...&catid=20&oldcolid=4135&stype=0&colourid=4135

The brand is loake n model name is hyde. If this suits your needs, good news is lots of online retailers carry them, bad news is u just missed black friday deals to get these cheaper.

Really appreciate the reply.

Best if its higher. this cut is more like medium cut to me. I really like those military high one. The reason is because, for those medium cut boots (in my esteem), when you sit down, and you stand up, the hem of your trousers will stuck on the top of the boots and everyone knows u are wearing a pair of boots instead of a pair of office shoes.

that's my .02

Since you seem to not be averse to open lacing or a country looking grain for your office boots, you should just get them from here:

https://www.skoaktiebolaget.se/collections/carlos-santos

There are 2 possible styles:
- The Carlos Santos Grain Patina Field Boot (order it in Noir)
- The Carlos Santos Patina Service (choose the Jumper Boot 8866, in Noir Patina). In fact, I might be doing the exact same thing just to buy a pair of "proper" boots for reservist.
Both these options will set you back by just slightly over 400SGD.

they don't have black, don't they?

You're welcome man.
Well, I'm no "Japan expert" and have actually gained a lot from Nutcracker's posts on SF. Nutcracker is actually Robin, from OakRoom Taiwan.
The SF community owes a lot to him... you can check out the Japanese bespoke shoe thread.
For the second bespoke maker I tried (Eiji Murata), he actually speaks very minimal English and I'd had help from a friend, translating emails back and forth from Eng to Jap and the other way round. It's a very, very tedious process. But he's totally worth it. With him, I think I've found my sweet spot among the Japanese bespoke makers, and will be sticking with him mostly, from here on out.
With regards to Japanese tailors, I've been wanting to try them for awhile now and had made enquiries with Vick Tailor (with Yohei Fukuda's help), and Sartoria Corcos.
Corcos is fully booked for the entire 2017 and will not accept new clients, and I think it's going to be difficult getting tailoring done with Vick due to the timings of the fittings needed, and trying to coincide these with shoe fittings and trips to Japan. I'll see how things go, but in the meantime, Lusso actually more than meets my tailoring needs.

Thanks alot I'll read it up. That's strange haha but I guess buying from the Oakroom will always be cheaper than Japan for the brands he covers.

Really? I'm glad you found your Eiji to be your perfect partner. How the heck does he get booked for an entire calendar year O.O. Yes its much easier with shoes with the fittings. Ever heard of Katsura tailor? Haha Ryan's a champ for everyone.

If you take US size 9-10, can sell u my "full leather" SAF boots, from the generation after the grained leather boots but before the goretex generation of boots. :s13::s13:

My "parade" pair still in very good condition, just need some conditioning and a good polishing over.

The grained leather boots were the best they had ever made. Every subsequent generation went sequentially downhill.

An alternative would be a pair of chukkas with rubber soles.
I find chukkas very easy to take off and put on as well. No shoe horns needed either.

The Loake Pimlico is a fairly budget chukka that could suit your needs.

Not too bad actually...might get the Chukka to replace my current loafers. The question now is...EB first or Loake first :s13:

Have you considered single/double monks or lazyman? Formal enough for office wear and easy to put on and take off.

Haha yes, was eyeing of the double monks from Enzo but, don't know if I will bear to wear it around industrial area...Are single/double monks supposed to be slip on though? Or is the buckle/strap just very easy to remove/put on?

Any recommendations on who/where to send my beat-as-hell and overly abused shoes for polish/touch up?

Once you have EB... You won't go back to Loakes. The difference in quality is tremendous.

Get a double monk with dainite sole or just vibram it via local cobblers. Leather soles will soak up just about anything from pee puddles.

Double monks are easy to slip in once you break in the shoe.

I drop some of my shoes off to Shoe Shine Redemption at raffles. 15 bucks. Saphir products. Good results. Couple of days wait.

har? like that also consider trolling?

Btw, the term "need to bite the shoe" can easily replace,

"Does the side of the shoe bites?"
"Will the back of the shoes rub the heels so badly that it causes blisters?"
"Will there be unforeseen/unexpected pain wearing the shoe?"

OMG..........

Please let me know if I am not worthy to be in discussion in this thread.

thanks.
