I will say they are in the same range (price and quality) but there is a local distributor for Yanko but not CS. CS will need to get online and there quite a few of them.

Hello gents, may I know if anyone heard of and owned Carlos Santos shoes? They seems to be around the same tier as Yanko and Loake (in terms of price point), with a high quality craftsmanship. Looking to purchase a pair or two for work and also casual wear.

[terras14: "I think yanko sole is close channel whereas the other 2 are not"]

Thank you for the info. May I know what's the difference between closed channel and open channel? And which is better? Thank you

Close channel soles are where the stitching is not visible on the sole.

Generally, close channel shoes are associated with higher quality and cost.
IIRC, Carlos Santos Handgrade line shoes are close channel too.

Leather flaw in new Loake Aldwych, in the toecap area =((
(I know some flaws are to be expected at this price point, but imo there shouldnt be such an obvious defect in the most prominent part right?)
xo2rle.jpg

dunno if this can be polished over?
I emailed pediwear, contemplating returning.

If you have to pay for returns, it's probably more economical to use shoe cream to pigment the spot and then gloss polish over it. But yeah, it sucks to receive defective goods :/

Is it true that boots are typically sized higher?

I am 7D on brannock and wear 5.5 on Yanko 362, thinking of getting a carlos santos boots.

Smallest they have is 6F, not sure if that's a good fit. Based on AFPOS and Skoaktie advice, both said its fine - but not sure if that's sales talking.

Anyone have experiences?

Loake is gonna run out of business if this is considered a flaw...

Hey guys, need your help.. how much is it consider reasonable for a ostrich leather+cow leather oxfords, blake stitched, leather stacked heel ( dunno what that means)? + it allow you to choose the colour you want for handpainting.

Depends on who is doing it for you also.

Closed channel shoes have a thin layer of leather glued over where you would otherwise see the outsole stitching giving it a more clean and refined look

I see, thank you both for the kind explanation and info, appreciate it. Thinking of getting a pair of Carlos Santos monkstrap/oxford in their coimbra patina. Their various shades of patina offerings look really gorgeous, yet not over the top.

May I know if anyone tried their shoes before? Any feedback or comments regarding Carlos Santos shoes?

i feel that it can be solved by creme and polishing
Thanks! Will try to get some cream and hopefully it will not be visible after.

Well, this is indeed a flaw, though I would agree such flaws are to be expected of shoes at this price range.
The fact that this flaw is on the toecap area is what's disconcerting.
Hence the question if this can be masked with polish.

If you would be so kind, your wisdom would be put to better use in answering a newbie's question rather than dissing it.

To be fair, he did answer your question albeit sarcastically.

That is not a flaw.

That is not a flaw.

Well, that's definitely marking on the leather no matter how you put it.

Whether it's considered a flaw however, is subjective since you could expect these markings to turn up on shoes for the mid-range labels (i.e. Carminas/C&J/etc) as well. Prob only the high-range labels clickers will look out for these during clicking but then again there's no guarantee even for EGs...

Just take pride in knowing that it's real calf leather with slight modification to its top grain, put some creme over it is the best you could do at this point in time :)

IMO the leather and workmanship are good value at that price point. No complains with the 2 pairs I have. Great value for money. The only challenge is getting your sizing right.

I see. By any chance, do you know if Carlos Santos' sizing stays true to the usual international sizing? I'm usually a 41.5EU, so is it safe for me to order in the same size for Carlos Santos shoes?
