I find Yanko (only have 1 pair) slightly more generous than Carmina's Rain last.
I stick to the same size as my Carmina's Rain and Loake's Capital lasts.

I don't have wide-ish feet but rather flat-feet, this means that the ball of foot gets kinda flatten and thus presses onto the sides.
I need wide fitting shoes otherwise it gets really pain after awhile.
I'm kinda sick of all salesmen saying the shoes will expand; from my experience it tends to expand when worn and contract when left to rest. Had to throw away 3-4 pairs because they were too tight. Also the expansion distorts the shape a little, although this doesn't really matter to me.
What I've noticed is that, wide fitting shoes differ from brands to brands and the only way is to try them out.
Take note of the leather used as well, some brands uses softer leather and this increase the comfort a lot.
Also note that derbies are more comfortable as opposed to oxfords due to the construction and the lining involved, etc.
On that note, does anyone know if stores in Japan stocks wide fitting shoes?
Fellow wide feet here. Most off the rack shoes will be in standard width, so it will be hard finding wide fitting ones.
I usually send my feet tracing to the shoemaker for verification before buying (maker, not retailer).
If you still cant find it, just save up and bespoke a pair![]()

Any recommendation for brands? I’ve tried Cheaney F which is still a tad tight, G should be good. Their calf leather seems soft enough. Other than that it’s a crapshoot of ordering and returning.
Used to send tracing but to retailers and to some makers. Most don’t seem to want to make a recommendation for fear of wrong sizing advice and the potential issues that may arise.

Zonkeyboot H width seems ok for me so far. You can mail them the tracing for confirmation. Alexandra did some good judgement for my sizing. Even edited the PDF i sent to let me know whats the "high instep" measurement I needed to provide![]()
I would go to ed et al. They have the best cobbler work in my opinion. But I’ve only done toe taps and topy, and not a resole.

Hi supernova, able to share the cost for toe tap and topy? Do they do only ed et al shoes or other brands as well? Thank you!
Shukey just charged me $60 for a pair of topy. Top and bottom
Yes, you're rightBy saying top and bottom do you mean front half and heel?
50 for toe taps. 40 onwards(?) for topy. They do any shoe brands.

I would like to show my recent toe taps and topy to explain why I think it’s worth the price. Toe taps are perfectly flushed, and they shave the leather sole before applying the topy. For avoidance of doubt, I am a full price paying customer @ ed et al!
And in case you are wondering what these shoes are... they are my Black Friday purchases from yeossal![]()

Curious, why did you decide to Topy 1 pair and install toe taps on the other VS Topy-ing and installing toe taps on both? Is it because of your usage of the shoes?
First, I don’t see the value of toe tap + topy, though I know some do it. My general preference is to keep leather soles un-topied, and this is where toe taps come in.
If I intend to use the pair for wet weather, I’ll topy it to “protect” the soles. After which I don’t think there’s additional value for toe taps as I can always replace the topy when it wears down.
The black shoes are meant to be beaters![]()
