thanks all for the replies as well. guess ill head down to Carmina to try the sizes and see which last is similar to LLYR for people to have a guage..

the Sizing Guide shared on the first post would be pretty useful as well for comparison.

cobbler that i mentioned is Shukey. Not sure if their rates are standard across all outlets.

Simpson last is narrow and people will usually size up by half.
If you have narrow feet then UK 6.5 would be fine, else I would suggest UK7.
Why not go to Carmina at Capitol to try out for yourself

Thanks. Eea single monk is also quite narrow but it fits me well. The only thing is the leather quailty, if not i think i go for the double monk too.
i wouldnt go try without the intention of buying from there.

6.5 shld be safe for eea 39. But keep in mind that for the Simpsons last, the killer is the instep. Your length and width can be perfect but you'll get rekt if your instep is too high

Hi, i read from a past posting who wear 39/40 eea and uk7 for simpson last is snug for him so i am really thinking hard. So 6.5 defintely will be tight.
Confused... But thanks for the advice.

I wear 39 EEA and uk6 Simpsons btw lol.

There are some pics back where I posted the width and instep differences between the last of Simpsons and EEA Rochor so people can guesstimate. Advance search with my username and you'll find it.

Though im sizing .5 up for my next Simpsons last footwear as I'm getting the 5 eyelet chukka and intend to have the option of wearing thicker socks with it.

I'd be wary of sizing up; chukkas tend to fit looser.

Thanks, I was hoping the 5 eyelet iteration (properly termed a George Boot?) would allow for a slight allowance given the extra 2-3 points of lacing above the ankle compared to a real chukka with 2-3 eyelets.

More decisions :s22::s22::s22:

Since there's been questions on sizing. I'll share my sizing for reference.

Meermin:
Hiro - 7UK (though I think 7.5UK might be more comfortable)
New Rey - 7UK (instep issues. New Rey is low for me. Length and width is ok)
Ron (loafers) - 6.5UK (I think 7UK would be more comfortable)

Carmina:
Simpson - 7UK

Vass:
F - 40.5

EEA: (don't know the lasts)
Somerset II loafers - 38 (not fitting for me so don't use this as a confirmed gauge)
Primaute single monk - 40 (1 size down would be a better fit)

Last but not least, do your own research on the lasts and their differences. It will feel different for different people.

Wow. Those are some very funky numbers. EUR 40 on most size charts would be a UK6 but you're wearing a UK7 on Meermin!

Hi, thanks for your reply. Perhaps I should heed your advice heading down to Capitol; but then very "pai se" to try at Carmina...
By the way does Meermin have "New Rey Last"?

You will be spending some good money for your feet. You should not be "pai se" to try.

I've spent 45 minutes to an hour trying shoes to find the right fit, design and colour. So far none of those shoe stores have made me feel "pai se". They still have the decency to offer me a cup of coffee. Having said that, those shoe stores are overseas. I've become their regular customer over time and they ship the shoes I want to me even if they have no official online store.

I try not to look at the conversion charts as it can be sometimes just plain confusing.

I use whatever sizing the brands go by default and it works better. Brands like Carmina and Meermin happen to have very similar sizing.

Update: I just checked on Carmina and Meermin websites... 7UK translates to 40.5EUR so I don't know where you get your information on sizing from....

I remember Carmina SG offering chocolate and water on the opening day.

Suitsupply SG offering Heineken, not sure if he was serious though.

Also get half size up and down of the size you usually wear (note UK size) to try. Try both oxford & derby (close & open lacings), they fit different even if they are on the same last. Boots too if you are into that.

After checking there's some corrections to eea sizes that I have:
Primaute single monks - 39 (38 would be a better fit)
Blake stitched single monks - 40.

Somehow the sizing is a little inconsistent depending on the range and lasts. So hard for me to base my sizing on eea shoes. I would recommend checking out Carmina for a better reference.

EEA previous collections different last different length. They have standardised the last with the latest 6th collection.

NEW LASTS

Another thing that has been at the forefront of our development was the inconsistencies of our lasts fitting from model to model. What this meant was that if you wore a 6.5 in our City Hall II, it may not be the right size in a Clemenceau, which used a different last. In order to totally eliminate this issue, we have withdrawn all our previous lasts from production and developed a set of 4 new lasts, subtle in toe shape differences, but similar in length and width measurements. We also took this chance to adjust the lasts in order to produce a sleeker looking shoe yet with a comfortable fit.

With this system in place, it will ensure that you always know your size once you have been fitted for lace-ups and loafers. In order to facilitate the fitting, we have also produced all-new fitting shoes in E and EE widths, and fitting loafers in E width, which will be available in-store shortly. These fitting shoes will also be travelling with us on trunk shows, so for those of you who are not based in Singapore, do drop by our trunk shows if we are in your city and get to know your size. The same lasts will be used for our By Request and Prestige line of shoes.
