I would hardly call it enlightenment.
It was a great trip though. Good company, good food, good shoes to see (and good shoemakers to meet), good clothes. And most of all, good looking Japanese women on the streets.

Buying shoes online has always been a hit or miss. Particularly with Meermin and its MTOs. You never know what you're gonna get since there's not going to be real life pics until someone receives it.

Here's a pic of the gold museum calf that I received, after some polishing.

My dark brown museum calf was really dark with a tinge of red here and there.

I do think they are decent for the price, though some might disagree with me. Granted that there are flaws here and there and local shoe brands are in the same price range and you can try on for fit. It still covers a certain demand in the market.

If you aren't sure of the colour and are not willing to try your luck, best to go with the standard colours 1st before trying out something adventurous.

There has always been a bit of luck with buying shoes online in general.

Even Edward Green shoes can surprise one with the lack of quality/'defects'.

To paste on a rubber sole protector over your existing soles shoulf cost $50 and below. Master-Fix does it, Shukey at Far East Plaza as well.

Don't know much about that. There are different ways of achieving the look from what I've read. Only time will tell for my pair... haha

Buy this, mix the epoxy resins, smear generously on the sole and stick it back and apply pressure for 5-10 mins. Settled

At the meantime, feel free to peruse this thread and find out about what actually constitutes quality footwear together with shoe care techniques like rotation. You can only come out better.
