Soft diffused natural light! Makes such a difference!

Beautiful pair mate, wear them in good health! :D
Lucky today not much haze, so light was not bad!

Thanks! Hope this shoe will serve me for a long time.

Currently just waiting for Saphir MDO wax to restock, other necessities (cream, shoe trees, horsehair brush) already purchased haha!

Yes yes ... Since when they are gone ?

I think too up market and price is too stiff...did they move to another location or totally gone?

I also noted a new shoe shop in Millennia Walk near 1 end of the mall on the 1st floor (opposite row of Edetal). Funky 2-tone and monk strap models. Was in a hurry and did not check out the shoes closer.

There was a lone rather atas-looking Indian lady manning the shop. Looks like owner or owner's family rather than employee. . Wonder if related to the Carmina Singapore distributors. LOL

I have once again stepped into the Carmina store. And this time to buy a pair of shoe trees. Alas no stock.

This is the second time i tried to buy something there but were greeted with "no stock" both times.

I left my contact numbers the last time, and no one called me back either. Once again, the lady asked me to leave my contact, and I doubt that they will call me when the trees are re-stocked.

High prices and poor service.. Good luck to them.

I have a pair of Edetal double monks in antique brown and size 38 to let go. Got it from their online sale but it's a size too big. Worn once. PM to view or try.

Maybe they winding down already... not re-stocking stuff LOL

Thing is.... people who know carmina shoes would probably also know the significant price disparity issue..

Barring a drastic weakening of SGD against EUR (touchwood!), reckon only the most gentlemanly (or ignorant) guy will buy from them..

At least you were greeted.

My personal experience was: I was invisible. Tried making eye contact and smiling. Young guy responded with a nod. Lady gave me the "don't waste my time look", or maybe I'm just sensitive.

Maybe I was wearing sneakers when I went in, so they deemed me as a time waster.

Ah well, I bought my Carmina's from KS instead. Plenty other places that like my money...

To be fair to them. I believe the service was great when they initially started but with most buying their carminas online and using their services only for sizing. Service is bounded to go down when they realize people are only buying the low margin stuff...

Yeah. Hard to discern true buyers from 'tryers'.

But both times i was actually thinking of buying from them.
The best part is I told them i wanted to wait for their incoming blue suede loafer and they offered to take my number. I was also told it will arrive in September. Since then, radio silence.

Anyway, I bought 2 loafers in between then and now (from JFitzpatrick and Carmina's own GMTO).

Not sure if they did their market research or took any protection measures e.g. getting a "no-export to Singapore" order before bringing in the brand.

I think they can only blame themselves for the situation, given that the online order channels and prices were well-established way before they set up shop here.

Some of you are probably aware that there was a recent no-export order for Loake to certain countries including Hong Kong, effective November. Let's hope this won't happen in Singapore (for Loake or Carmina).

I can empathise.

Not easy to get territorial rights unless you commit to a large target or you meet the supplier's MOQ. I think they had good intentions, they really need to look into their price structure. Some shoes are priced 100% above MSRP.

One way to circumvent the direct-ordering issue would be to offer a "web-to-store" delivery option for Carmina e-store; but this approach really hinges on whether Carmina is willing to share a % of the online sales for Singapore with Vivek(I think that's his name?) A more compelling argument for the local distro would be to handle the logistics for all Singapore e-store orders, but once again this would be made easier if the distro already has a proven track record with fulfillment/logistics/distribution; which they do not.

Finally, I think it would be helpful if the proprietors reached out to the local community a little, organise some events, get a few GMTOs(unique stuff, not the vanilla crap another local stockist has) running.

Valid points. Being out of a size 9 shoe tree is :s22:
