I went to check the popular loake 1880 are in the range of 214pound. After 15% discount and using current conversion rate, it comes to nearly 400 before shipping.
How did u arrives at 310?

Minus 20% vat first, then minus 15% discount. Plus Robinson shoes provide free international shipping if the original before discount price of the shoe is UKP170 and above.

Eg Loake Strand is UKP179.13 after less vat, before 15% discount. Thus still qualify for free shipping, and then less 15% at final checkout.

Plus no need to afraid kenna GST also.

So if anyone is buying their first pair of GYW shoe, Loake Strand is a safe buy. Capital last, fits standard feet. Have nice Burgundy and Mahogany brown to choose.

I highly doubt a pair of leather soled EEAs would wear out faster than a pair of leather soled Loakes, everything being equal.

I own 4 pairs of EEA. The sole leather quality is suspect, to say the least. Hands down worse than Loake 1880 and Meermin. The only exceptions are the Primaute range, as well as MTO.

IIRC most of your EEA shoes are MTO so you might not have experienced the downright dangerous sole quality of the RTW range.

Ouch. I just bought AE strands for over $400 including delivery.

the sole worn out pretty fast and the threads that stick the shoe to the sole came off slightly on one. probably a one of case so im not making a big fuss. currently wearing cole haan.
Wow that sucks esp considering it was a MTO. You didn't bring it back to them to fix?

FWIW my EEAs have better finishing than Loake 1880s.

Might depend on which collection it's from? Seems like EEA has improved their quality recently. I have one of the earliest batches from their Jalan Kilang days. Finishing worse than my Clarks lol

How do llyr and edetal compare? Finishing n leather quality?

I was told they come from the same vietnam factory..

Sales assistant told me LLYRs are made in Laos.

Might not be a fair comparison as I haven't tried EEA's more recent works! For me, comfort is key and I'm not too particular on finishings/leather quality/creasing etc. In this regard, LLYRs beat EEA imo

Can't comment much about EEA sole quality, though I have 4 pairs as well and all from different range.
1 MTO from few years back, 1 blake stitched pair which was discontinued, 1 primaute, and 1 loafer from 3rd or 4th collection.

All had topy on them except for the loafer so can't really tell if they are worse than others.

I'm curious about the stitching coming off, was it because the sole was worn down until the stitching was frayed or did it just come off even when the sole was new? GY soles are stitched such that each stitch will not affect the others, even if it was worn and frayed the shoe should be fine.

If it's an anomaly, you should bring it back. They have been most willing to rectify most problems, from what I've heard.
