If it is tight on the sides, you will need to go wide or look for a last which is more generous, Josh can certainly help.

Not sure about the new range I am keen to find out as well!

@wiz: Yeah perhaps the shape of my foot; I felt the sides were a little narrower for the Oriental.

The new line from yeossal looks good! is it their in-house brand?

488 to 588 should be those on sale from last season (good value if your size is available ). Current range should be near 800 for Enzo

it was around $488-588 for the Enzos i believe? MTO he was saying would be 1k+

Looks like Yeossal is bringing in TLB Mallorca! I guess pricing should be around Yanko and Carlos Santos?

Hi, all. New to the shoe scene and hoping to dip toes by getting a pair of suede tassels and leather double monks.

Been looking at Meermin but abit unsure of the sizing and QC. Waiting for them to stock their cognac museum calf monks (elton last) and brown suede tassels (Ron). Also considering this relatively new brand, Morjas. Any experience with them or any brands around the price range to recommend?

Only have another pair of suede tassels from Yanko in 939 last.

Hey guys,

Made an account just to ask a few questions. Been looking to get a pair of business casual appropriate dress shoe for work. Saw a shop called Marx B at VivoCity. Turns out its a local Singaporean brand. Does anyone have experience with this brand? I tried looking it up on prior shoe threads but could not find anything about it.

They have two lines.

Premium Line - $489 GYW or handwelted maybe? Made in Japan
Regular Line - $229? Otherwise don't know too much about it.

Primarily more interested in the premium line but may consider purchasing 2 regular line shoes so I can rotate since I currently do not have any dress shoes.

Thanks so much!

I'd say best to avoid that brand, as I've heard some horrendous experience from some of my friends. With that amount of money put in, sub $500, can go for much better established brands like Yanko, Carmina on sale, Carlos Santos, Loake and Allen Edmonds.

For $400 you cannot go wrong with AM Aeris currently on sale from yeossal.

Stick with Yankos, unless you like stiff shoes with painful break-ins and random QC.

Or go upwards to EBs or AMs. TLBs look interesting too.

Does the Camina store here do sales for odd stocks in store?

I thought maybe can try out a different brand since I've tried yanko. Following yeossal closely to see their new offerings. Hope there will be double monks available. Probably will go with another yanko for the suede loafers.

skolyx is a resource i only recently discovered :p

If SB has the design and size, its better to get from them. If you buy from Skolyx the price will add up to be about the same, sometimes even more.

I've sold off every pair of Meermins that i've ever bought, except for 1 pair from their handwelted line. The rest are just not comfortable.

I thought this store was at MBFC? In any case, please avoid. I was highly unimpressed by the shoes I saw there and don’t be lured by the prices. I’m all for supporting local but this one was seriously an upscale version of Pedro IMHO.

Suede tassels - I personally think Carmina and C&J do the best expression of this style. However, you may wish to try Skoak’s new house brand Lof & Tung which looks decent and is quite attractively priced.

Double monks - I was delighted with the pair I picked up in dark oak from the Meccariello Aeris line via Yeossal (not sure if still available on sale?). I think your best bet at this range might be Skolyx/Yanko.

May consider the Double Monkstrap from Carlos Santos carried by another local startup, The Quarters, too. It looks pretty good in their new last. However, I think you can only have it Made-To-Order in your desired choice of patina.

Actually skolyx came up to just about 335 even with shipping. Was quite surprised why it was so much cheaper than SB. Maybe old stocks but i dont think SB carries the choco suede loafers i want.

Oh man okay will avoid. Was willing to take the gamble but their QC seems to be quite sporadic.

I second this! I think it’s at vivo city. Looks quite unimpressive actually
