Yes, appreciating fine art or skill is very atas but no need to argue over the terms used waht. I find it extremely ugly behaviour and ungentlemanly. For people who really appreciate finer things in life like good crafted shoes shouldnt be attacking things which they think is "unfine". They can say good things about the brands they like but criticising other brands so vehemently just made them look bad.

It's not about atas or not but the terms actually have a different monetary value to it. Bespoke, MTM, MTO etc differs in the resultant product that you receive based on the amount of customization and tailoring that is applied.

So its important for sellers to define their products correctly.

Relax lah just joking with you.

Relaxed for sure, otherwise i wont be so free talking crap and showing my prick to the affluent uncles here. Frankly i cant understand why people can be so obssessed with the technicalities. Leave it to the shoemakers la. Dont tell me people find out so much technicals of the trade just so becos they want to have maximum value on what they spend on? Or becos the more affluent people are, the more they need to find out about everything and make sure they have the finest? Appreciate the finest things in life? So full of themselves? :s13:

Cos if companies misrepresent their products, then consumers will end up paying more for lousier stuff.

Lousier not in the sense of "it's simply of exquisite finer quality" bullsh*t that atas people like to boast about and no one can prove, but actual longevity of the products. You'll only know later after you purchase, when your sole rips apart like some crocodile mouth or the upper cracks. You want holes in your shoes?

As consumers, we got to educate ourselves with basic knowledge of the products we want to purchase. Otherwise, we're going to be cheated. I want to save money and buy smart, so I research.

And... how is this technical? I learnt basic shoe construction in 15 min in a blog post a few months ago. The Internet has such vast resources, we got to know how to use it. We come here to learn and pass on the correct information. The truth usually endures and inaccuracies get sieved out.

5 minutes for this. 10 minutes for this.

PS: affluent people buy on impulse without researching, not the other way around. poor people => research to get most bang for buck.

Honest I really cant afford DW based on my below national average salary. I got to make sacrifices, inconvenient to say here. But main reason why i bought my first pair of customised shoes at DW is becos, 1) I like their Customer Service and so decided to try out on impulse (I didnt plan on getting a pair of custom shoe) and also my old shoe is torn i have to get a new pair fast & i so happen passby theor shop becos my office is nearby china sqaure 2) I like their shiny & unique design 3) The type of shoes i have been wearing for the past 10 yrs or so ever since i started working are so dull & boring i dont feel motivated to buy them again.

So it ok for you to give positive feedback but others cannot give a negative feedback? I have seen all shoe brands be it low end to high end having two sides of the argument and camps advocating and criticizing the shoe no matter who is the shoemaker...

If a product is suitable for a consumer even with negative comments the consumer would still purchase it..if it is not, let the consumer vote with their wallet..

Most people only perceive value at the price tag.

Let them be.

Anyway let the guy be. If you check his post history, he tends to be very prickish when he can't get the response he wants.

thanks uncle, you just ripped my wound apart, i admit im a lazy bum who most often than not get cheated & ripped off buying overprized stuff, but cant blame others la. Didnt know there are so many cheaters out there to sap my $ away, hard earned $ in exchange of lost pride & dignity. Hmm okie i will take note of the longetivity. By the way, in your definition of a good shoe, how long do you expect it to last before sole rips apart or cracks appear? Or do you expect none from a truly good shoe? I will post here again when my DW shoe rips apart at any corner.

Maybe im not in love with shoes so i didnt find out so much details or research on it. To me shoes only mah, to be worn on my feet as long comfy look better than the rest of what the higher flyers are wearing i jin happie already. Uncle, cant you tell i have serious self-esteem problems? And trying to locate my identity?

PS: To quote Carnage, i am distaste at the finest. Half of the time i dont wear dress shoes in the office, i walk about in my Bata slippers. Only during meetings or lunchtime i slip into my shoes and wear for the afternoon before taking them off, put in shoe tree before changing into casual shoes to go off. Pure laziness. I dont wax, polish or even use shoe horn.

I'm not an uncle. I'm an undergrad.

"Rip your wound apart"? Are you a man or a woman?

For mine, I expect it to last 5 years before I have to do anything. Resole is damn ex! I rather just keep topying it for 30 bucks.

For cracks in the upper, just clean and maintain the upper bah. Shoe cream and wax. The uppers are meant to last 15 to 20 years, I presume.

Besides the type of leather, I think the upper longevity will also depend on the design i.e. layers of leather. This is entirely a theory of mine. Wholecut is one layer, so may crack faster and crease more, while full brogue can have many layers. One of my shoes clearly has 3 layers at some areas.

No minimum. Their winter weight is perfect for Singapore. Trust me. Their summer weight is too light and prone to snags.

Edit: Wait, this is the ultra heavy one, or the winter weight? My winter weight is thinner than Uniqlo socks, or Happy socks.

Summer weight
Winter weight -> 50% thicker than Summer weight
Heavy winter weight -> 33% thicker than regular winter weight socks. 30/3 Ne 3 ply American pima cotton yarn

Will order Winter weight and the thickest Heavy winter weight to try. Googled and found the discount code for Viccel

:s13::s13::s13:

I'll like to see examples of me participating in ppl's sagas, except for political views. Where by I don't even bother arguing after 1 page. EDMW are too full of people who only want to think bad of all and sundry.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all meermin shoes more than 400?

Failing which, if I'm right and if it's not goodyear welted then why pay so much?

Better to Email them to check on e return for overseas.

Share some Saphir products to share e shipping. More worth it compared to shoes.
Handwelt is better. I think better quality leather is used as compared to the classic line. Free shoe tree as well, I think
