From what I've read around here, Ed Et Al seems like a rather worth it option. Like how I can try the shoes before buying too. But I have a few questions regarding them:
1. Just how much difference does a goodyear and blake welt have in terms of how long the shoe will last? Recrafting for goodyear is $150 right, wouldn't it be better to just buy another blake instead for $180? Is the welt difference really worth $120?
2. Are sample sales worth waiting for to get a specific shoe you want? Are there usually quite a large range with enough sizes during the sample sales to ensure you get what you want? I'm more interested in brown wingtips brogues and penny loafers.
Hand welt RTW collection? They mentioned to u when u visited the shop? My guess is it won't come cheap.. their primaute RTW collection was at $600.Like you, I had many questions but 1 visit to their shop gave me the following observations.
1) Black soles are thinner. If you are used to GY shoes, you may not want to go with Blake.
2) There is a reason why Blake soles are practically half the cost of the GY variants.
3) I would probably go for their $300 GY models which are think are not bad, and is good since we can try.
4) All their lasts are made with standard widths. They don't even have G widths, so it is a challenge for me if i do pull the trigger.
5) I am even prepared to consider their next range which is actually hand welted and comes with a beveled waist on the sole.
6) I left the shop with a Saphir Creme and 2 pairs of socks.
Good trip for me.
Next time i buy a new shoe, I will be popping by Ed.

I think that's the line I saw in the shop, but there are not many models on display. Likely to try to the $300 line first as a first pair as I am apprehensive about my G width sizing.
They have a particular last (on the model clemenceau which is an apron derby) which fitted me quite well in a 41 the last time I tried.. I understand that last suits wider feet but is used for very few models only.. ask them about it.. u may want to try if that suits u and consider MTO using that particular last for a design/colour u like.
Was told MTO starts from $500. Understand that is for the most basic type of MTO i.e. use an existing last for existing design (e.g. the apron derby i mentioned) but u get to choose a leather colour/type not on the RTW collection. Thanks for your suggestion.
Do they charge more for MTO? How much more?
Hi bros! Need some urgent help here...

I saw a few at robinsons which i tot quite nice. They are all not black cos i tot of having a different color pair this time. I have one black one currently but i feel it doesn't match well. From what i read online i shld match with burgundy or oxblood color but not brown.
Saw this pair of... i think loafers?:

Does this one looks like it's suitable? I actually cannot see what color is this. The sales lady, who looks elderly, said this is brown but i tot it looks burgundy. But is this too casual and wrong color for my suit?
When i wear it with my jeans today, when i stood up straight, my jeans barely covering all sides, so there might be a little bit of socks showing at the side...
Black shoes ba.. Unfortunately your suit colour v hard match w brown shoes, even dark brown...
oh... sad... tot this pair actually can double as a semi casual/formal shoes.
another pair that i saw and quite like... even the price looks not too bad is this

and jus nice i can wear size 6 which is like last pair! haha...
but another question with this is, what kind of stitching is this huh? from what i read, GY welt tends to be thicker sole. This one doesn't look like it but the stitching is like this at the side.
