Hi Guys,

Which brand would u suggest for a budget $200> Have been looking at brands like Beetlebug, Ecco and Rockport. But nothing fancies me so far. Thank you for ur help!

Ecco is fine. But above your budget I think.

Stay away from Beetlebug, quality has become rubbish over the years.

damage?
comfy? does it really "breathe" as advertised?

hi there,

i would say quality is quite good along with comfort. I have about 10 pairs of different footwear from them.

Also I work in a sedentry environment. When i get back home after a long day, my feet and socks are very dry so i guess that is a litmus test of their patented technology

as for price, this cost me $220 after discount.

Usually for non-promotion pairs, discount acceded is around 15% (or $10 off your next purchase)

Price range varies from $150 - $400 for different types of footwear for men

Sometimes they have very good sales promotions like 30%-40% and if you buy two pairs, it's an additional 15%-20% on top.

However, most of my stuff are sport shoes and loafers / moccasins - these are the ones that are usually discounted a lot. I have rarely seen my current sort of dress shoes on big discounts.

Last point is that, from the outside - it looks as it is...normal oxford with cap toe...however, can't compare it to the guys here who wear Diamond Walker / Loake / Church - those are the real bespoke, made to order quality. So not comparing apples to apples.

Loake capital last in F fit works for me. Upsize by 0.5. I take edetal shoes in 43 or about uk9 which is 1 full size up. I have tried but not bought G fit shoes true to size and seem comfortable. Not very helpful info but thats my experience.

Bro u really have wide feet...upsize even for loake capital last. U should be looking at vass mto G width next

Yeah.. it's quite a pity when u enjoy nice dress shoes but only to be limited to very few choices due to wide feet.. If I could confidently fit meermin, I would have probably bought a few pairs like u already haha

MTO does seem like the only way out.. vass do G width? But I heard their lasts are pretty tricky and w/o getting to try.. not blowing that type of $$ for the risk.

Perhaps an edetal MTO is about the only realistic target or unless I make a trip to one of the MTOs in HK.

bro - loake and church are RTW shoes.. not quite top of the line either.

DW are MTO (beg to differ that they are bespoke).

Having wider feet still leaves you the option to do a MTO with G width.

If you have a high instep like me you have to live with never being able to lace up properly. MTO cannot correct for high instep. Only via customised last.

As I wanted to get a double monk, I actually went to Zee's in HK.

I am partial towards oxfords than derby and I typically cannot achieve complete "closed" lacing on my oxfords, but I don't think my instep is particularly high, relative to the foot width/length.

Zee's in HK managed to address your high instep issue? I guess with appropriate placement of the pin holes and buckles, your high instep can be accomodated?

While I am no expert on shoe but u might try your luck at English tradition shoe like loake. Usually English shoe width are in their stanfard "F" width which IMHO is rather broad. Their 024 last is quite generous on width. A good place to start with is to head down to robsinson heeren to have feel or their shoe in term of size and last. Then when u have decided on the model and size, you can head online to pediwear or robinsonshoe.co.uk to get them. A headstart below for u on the different type of last they loake offers. Cheers!

Pediwear News: Loake Lasts

P.S. I am not affliaiated to any one of the shoemaker or online merchant above. Just sharing my experience....

I am wearing Loake for work everyday. Yes it truly does last.

Yup. I have collected and tried it. It fits nicely.

Zee's created a canvas shoes of the double monk using my measurements. So they are able to create the shoe taking care of the high instep. It is not through the placement of the pin holes and buckles but rather build the high instep into the shoe itself.

Their leather and craft is not fantastic though. For HKD 1,700, it is quite good in my opinion for the 'customisation'. I can now order new shoes from them whenever i want and to the design i like.

Haha, problem is I spend a lot more on shoes than any other part of my wardrobe....

Vass does G width for their MTO but for their Italian last SFer does commented that the last/shape will be un-proportional when going up G width. Budapest last and other class round last should be fine.

Ed is also a good alternative since is local. Can see the make up of G width before you commit.....

Need to balance it out i.e. spend more on other parts rather than cut down on shoes :D:D:D

I saw your post of pants tailoring in the other thread. Is that CMT? How's pricing like? Can share the contact?

BTW alvin, your edetal boot is crying out to get a patina job. fast.

Looks like a poor naked boy amongst the other shoe "brothers" in your collection.

Bloody awful pic of my JM Weston 300

Want to break it in more before I actually start to polish.

Edit : Uhh, the awful laces are the result of wearing loafers too much.

hi guys.

just want to check which brand is suitable for warehouse operations. i can say 70% of the time i will be working in the office of the warehouse but sometimes i do need to walk around the warehouse too. Shoe may get dirty easily due to the environment

but still i would like to get a nice yet durable pair.

any recommendations?
