Hi guys i'll be getting a brown shoe for work wear, need some advice with regards to what type of shoe should i be getting.
Should i be getting one with laces or without laces?
As for the toe part, should i get cap-toe, pointed, or any other?

No worries. Alexmcqueen is right, I'm looking for suggestions on black dress boots. Not counting chukkas, I currently have only 2 pairs and am looking for a black pair. For reference, these are what I got at the moment...

It really depends on your taste and style beyond anything. In general, lace is more formal than without (say loafers or elastic chelsea boots); oxford is more formal than blucher, captoe is less vs plaintoe. Then there are austerity (which I like), longwing, shortwing; with without brogues (top or underside); and there construction (stitchings) and last which add to the look of the shoes. More "decorations" less formal... Pointed shoes are normally narrow lasted and goes well with slim pants. Above all, the shoes must fit well, your feet will thank you for it.

For starters, have a look at Meermin shoes. I think they have a good range with the right range, quality, style and price points. My 2 cents.

For formal wear with a suit, lace will be more appropriate.
The rest is just your own preference

Well I must say that, pointed toe with laces is quite in these days. I personally have two of the pointed ones one with laces and the other without laces and have received more compliments on the lace one than on the plain one

The JL is MTO, and if IRC, JL stop using museum calf. So you are right, not available in SG or anywhere else for that matter. I believe Martegani uses the Radica calf, which is quite similar to museum calf, so you may want to have a look at Martegani.

Not knowing how long the shoes are in storage, I would normally condition the shoes first. Then decide if I want to add rubber sole, if I decide not to, I would go on putting a light layer of cream, brush, put 2 layers of wax, brush, and do the mirror shine on the toes. If I decide to put on rubber sole, I would do the cream and wax after the cobbler does his thing, in case he mess up the finish a tad while putting on the sole.

If needs to, it is also a good time to put on toe tap... I am that sort that wear out the front more rapidly than any part of the sole.

Like many, I use Saphir. Do a search and you will find references on where to get them (got my from eBay and Valmont). Collonil is another good range available in Singapore.

I bought a pair of Aldo during asos sale. $80 is still much cheaper than sale here. Got back the almost same design as my current pair is pretty beaten up.
