Ordered the premier from Herrings before.. I found the leather and stitching to be alright... average but not fantastic.

Ed et al is ok. One of the better value for money. I won't say the workmanship is fantastic, but for the price you're paying, it's much better than most of the shoes out there. Go for their 3rd collection. The leather quality is much better.

Ordered a pair of Meermin and waiting for it to arrive. They told me it'll take about a month..

update us about the meermin you ordered!
so the comparing herring classic collection and ed et al, u would recommend ed et all.

Meermin looks not bad, however they have quite limited variety.

Luxury shoes and cotton shirts for men - Bexley : Dressed shoes, leather shoes

Anybody wants to order from this website? Normally 1 shoe is 129 € but if order 2 it is 209 € and shipping is cheaper as well. 3rd pair onwards is 104.5 € each.

Had one before and IMO the quality is better than those brands you get at the departmental stores.

I'm thinking of trying markowski. Interested to try? It's also a French brand same producer as septieme larguer. Price wise not far but people mention that they are better than bexley. I'm just thinking of getting a rainy day beater pair of boots. And I did consider the einfield from bexley.

Got a website? Also getting a cheap pair for rainy weather. While searching around got many recommendations for the enfield but never heard of markowski.

Hi there,

Being first time and trying to get a pair of good shoe from online and pls pardon my ignorance, despite I browsed thr its website about shipping cost, I am still lost, care to share how much would the shipping cost be if I'm getting a pair of shoe from them?

Many thanks.

IIRC if ordering one pair of shoes only the shipping is about 30 €.

On what basis do you judge leather quality?

And how is Herring compared to other more well known GY welted shoes like AE, Alden, C&J and EG? I heard little of Herring, and absolutely nothing of Meermin.

I compared it based on how the leather creases after a few wears and how the leather pores absorbs the wax. I might be wrong it the way I'm judging the leather quality, but this is my own personal feel :)

Haven't tried the higher end brands yet.. still saving $$. Just spent half my savings on wedding :s22:

Meermin has quite some good reviews online.. they're concept is similar to ed et el, but they hail from Spain

Will do! Still waiting for them to get back to me on the stock availability. I'm very satisfied with my ed et al shoes so far.. :)

I've had the meermin LM collection and yes, though it's more expensive than Ed et al by a hundred odd so, I must say the leather does look and feel a lot better. I've seen ed's third collection and while the lasts are sleek and can par with the European shoemakers the leather just doesn't feel right. I'd still go with meermin and I honestly think they are as good as my Crockett and jones bench grades or slightly better.

I heard bexley is pretty scorned on the French forums. Still contemplating if I should aim better even for a beater rainy day boot.

Might give Ed et al a try! It's only found at their shop near red hill?

Yea. they're located Bukit merah there. You can't go wrong with them.
Should hurry too.. most of the popular sizes in their third collection are already sold out.

Ed et al shoes really age very poorly. The leather quality leaves much to be desired. I was all for supporting local brands but after buying their shoes (3rd collection, no less which is supposed to be better), i feel like its not a good deal for the prices they charge.

Even loakes 1880 cost less and wears better, considering that its made in england and shipped here. Edetal is made either in China or Vietnam yet cost more. No reason for this, even meermin made in china can sell for under $300 shipped from china to spain and from spain here. Local retailers need to wake up to the reality that competition for business is very global..

What brand of dress shoes to recommend for flat feet?

Pedro looks cheap and nice, but kills my feet and knee.

Order from herrings. Church, Church's Shoes, Churches Shoes, Herring Shoes, Loakes, Loake Shoes, Barker, Cheaney, Tricker's, RE Tricker, Sebago, Jeffery West and Timberland Boots. or order from plal.com
Plal's located at Malaysia but i believe in the authenticity of their products.

I've seen ed et al's products and honestly, i think the designs and lasts are not bad. Construction wise, its a fairly sturdy shoe. I agree with some of you guys that the leather does feel alittle stiff and has a slight rubbery feel but lets do our part to support local products. I think he's improving and the leather does seem better for the third collection as compared to the second collection. Lets see what the fourth collection holds.

there are fairly limited models of loake and barker at Robinson's Centrepoint, and none of the loake's there are the 1880's i think. And they are quite expensive, i've been given to understand. I cannot verify that because i've never bought a pair online.

I agree mostly with what you said. For $300, it's pretty decent. I heard there's no fourth collection per se, just different variations in terms of colour or leather of the 3rd collection.

Bro how's your meermin coming along? You got the linea maestro right?
