Depends on work attire bah... When I wear my jeans, cargo, chinos to work, I always wear my red wings or dc martens.... When I wear pants, I always wear black dress shoes (minimally those square flat tip one)...

Shenton way or tuas workplace is irrelevant, more importantly is to wear shoes that match the outfit

Probably going to Centrepoint Robinsons to try out some shoes either on Monday or Tues. Shopping around online and I quite like the look of the Loake Bibury. Just gonna try the sizes and then order online if its cheaper. Any idea where else, besides Centrepoint, stocks Loakes?

looks ugly. :s22: unlike boots, this will make ppl think, u got no money to buy new one? i dun think it looks good to even for job interviews!

unless u wearing suits/blazer to work. its overkill to wear dress shoes.

if u are just wearing shirt with ties and pants, nah, u are just a wannabe.

:s13:

and FYI. i work in raffles place. i seen so much shoes walking me ard everyday, i only see such dress shoes worn by those men in suites.

Erm...

Wearing boots to work at Raffles place? Have you caught your colleagues staring at your feet wear? Because I would.

Hi,

I just got a job that requires me to be standing for long periods of time.
Am looking for black work shoes, and am looking for recommendations.

Color has to be black. Price is a maximum of $150. Am going for more comfort than design actually.

Went to Zalora to look see, and if possible am looking for something like any of these three:

Beetle Bug Leather Business Shoe
Hush Puppies Caine
Giorgio Ricci - Italy Business Lace Up Shoes

Any recommendations on certain brands/types I should go for? Am thinking once I know which brands are reputable for comfort, I can zero in on the different models, and then compare prices between brick n mortar outlets and online shops.

Also, is there a difference between business shoes and dress shoes?

Thank you very much for your advice!

Comfort at your price range...I can only think hush puppies. However, my old hush puppies don't last very long.

No, they have very limited models of the Loake 1880 range.
So if I want to get the Comfort range I should probably get it from Herring Shoes? I suppose the fit is similar between the Comfort and 1880 range right?

The business shoe, black leather shoe or formal shoe are all called dress shoe. Oxford, monk, derby, loafers are the different style of dress shoe. Apparently someone say he work at Raffles Place and only see people wearing dress shoe with a suit only.I wonder what does all those who wear pants and shirt and tie to work wear, sandals, sneakers, slippers, barefoot?

get those steel-toe shoes? you could try Kings. check out their website and they provide several variations of the design etc.

Thanks yam, managed to get my company to consider sponsoring me a pair of safety shoes from Kings so that i can swap when i need to head down to sites. thanks again for your recommendation!

----

btw, im wondering if anyone is facing the same problem as me, as pictured below, this part always comes soft after months of wearing and eventually tear and start to collect water and wear out a small hole on your socks.

i doubt theres anyway to prevent this but is there anyway to delay this from happening? appreciate some suggestions!

Thanks! Guess I'll get either Hush Puppies or Dr Martens! :) Any particular model to recommend?

I like Hush Puppies too, very comfortable to wear. In fact I used my old pair for almost 4 years  But not regular wear, just on and off...

Take a look at Cole Haan and Ecco as well, it should be within your budget, and Cole Haan offers Nike Air tech within their shoes which will definitely help with being on your feet all day.
