Anyone know where the cordovan leather for Meermin comes from ?

Thinking between the Meermin or Alden Long Wing Bluchers as a Christmas gift to myself.

Wow. The Alden long wing blucher in cordovan will set you back close to one grand including shipping. I think it's overpriced. Even AE cordovan can go for 300usd at sale prices which is a better steal. They also use horween. Although I must agree we don't know if the Argentinian cordovan will last.

I can never seem to hit the sale for AEs.. Always no size or just not the right timing.

Just wanted to give a mini review on some Boot Black products.

I got my hands on Boot Black (Silver Line) Cream and Wax and a Boot Black Edge Crayon.

I like the cream, its smooth, goes on easily and is quite pigmented. I would say its comparable to Saphir MDO cream.

Whereas the wax seems a bit more dry, pigment level is probably comparable to Saphir BDC range. However, I find that the Saphir BDC and MDO wax still provides a better shine compared to the Boot Black wax.

The Boot Black edge crayon is decent, I've never had any experience with edge dye, but it does a decent job of covering up small scuffs. Emphasis on small though.
As its a crayon, it won't work well for scuffs or gouges with raised edges. For minor touchups, its perfect

I'm not sure how the Boot Black - Black Line compares to the Silver Line, but I suspect it is similar to a BDC vs MDO comparison. I'll probably try the Black Line from A Fine Pair of Shoes when I finish off some of my existing products (gives me incentive to polish more).

All 3 products cost Y840 each (SGD$12ish)

Ed Et Al. Because fit is always the number 1 priority, considering you can actually try it on for a perfect fit.

Unless you have experience with the lasts of Cheaney and it being from the imperial collection...I believe Ed Et Al should give you a run for your money.

I find the saphire wax particularly hard to polish.. it takes longer to shine compared to other waxes.. or maybe I'm doing it wrongly

I have a pair of cheaneys so ordering from alka was easier for me but it's a bigger risk for you if you don't know ur size and the conditions of the seconds.

just went to take a look at mandarin. They dun haf the lapis blue one. which is what i am interested in.

the purple is quite dope also. i think sir paul himself is wearing the purple one.
the pebble grey looks more grey in real life, rather than brown.

but paying that amt for a purple shoe, no way for me. pebble grey, the quirkiness is not there.

even using my 10% club21 discount, $1900 is kinda too steep for me.
$1200 I might consider.

Unfortunately (or fortunate) for me, JL last don't quite fit me, be it the 8000 or 8965. The wide point is always a little too forward for me.

Saphir Renovateur ?
Its a cleaner / conditioner based on mink oil which provides nourishment to the leather.

(but i'm biased, i'm trying to sell excess bottles, PM me if interested, feel free to read the reviews here on the product or on styleforum. Got some folks that bought from me who have been using on their shoes (even vintage RW boots) and leather products)

If looking for just cleaning alone, I would use Saphir Renomat. Good for stripping off all the old waxes and dirt, but it is very harsh, and only recommended to use every 6 months. On poorer quality leather, there is a possibility that it may strip the finish.
