Next time throw away after u get shoe trees lol.

Those fillers are very useful n i use them in lieu of shoe trees for short trips and/or if i need to travel light.

Meermin's shoes are a decent entry considering both it's price point and various options, especially their Linea Maestro (LM) range. But personally, their QC for RTW shoe range is average, mediocre. But that's just being nitpicking over aesthetic details and etc. I would recommend getting their LM range instead of RTW. Furthermore, there's literally no physical stores here to try on and determine your Meermin's sizing. This can be tad tricky, however, you will be in luck if any brothers here are willing to lend you their shoes for sizing or just refer to comprehensive guides online (SF, blog reviews).

if I may suggest, you may also give Loake 1880 a try. Decent English shoes with a rich history in shoe-making. You may head down to Robinsons to try out your sizing.


All in all, one gets what one pays for.

I've tried the Inca, Rain and Alcudia last of my usual size UK7, but still felt very snug. Is it bcos it's E width or something related to the sole waist?

The edge treatment and finishing is pretty fantastic, plus the outer sole is closed channel, no stitching revealed (More favorable imo).

I strongly strongly recommend skoaktiebolaget for EG. I'm a big supporter and have bought many pairs from them. Though their prices will be rising come March 1, their prices remain competitive. Plus they will be stocking the Dover this year apparently

closed channel is a normal Carmina feature not a Kevin-Seah-Carmina feature right?

Yes. All carmina leather soled shoes are close channel.
Some do argue the difference is mainly aesthetic. Simply adding on an extra layer of leather.
Functionally its not supposed to matter. Reason being that each stitch between the outsole and welt is individually locking and even if a few were worn through it should not matter.
That being said i do still prefer closed channel.
BUT. There are good makers who do open channel. Example being C&J, whose shoes i will not hesitate buying, at all
