.A star candidate’s star power helps the known face team captain win for the 1st time.

In GE2011, CSM’s star power helped LTK capture Aljunied. You may say that LTK was not a “1st timer” but he was as far as a GRC was concerned, and without the hype over CSM back then, he might have lost.

In GE2020, Jamus’ star power helped He Ting Ru capture Seng Kang.

The star candidate cannot be the team captain. Nicole was the star candidate and the team captain, and they failed to capture East Coast. If Harpreet is the star candidate and the team captain for Marine Parade, also most probably will lose.

Punggol failed because Harpreet is the Star Candidate and the Team Captain.

Tampines failed because although you had 1 veteran Team Captain in Faisal, but no 1 true Star Candidate … Michael may have been a breakout star but that’s not the same as a Star Candidate hyped the way CSM, Jamus and Harpreet were … on top of that you have both Michael and Eileen competing for the breakout star spot.

Whereas East Coast failed because Yee Jen Jong had no star backup.

All 3 GRCs that failed did not follow the “Rule of 2” that won Aljunied and Seng Kang.

The good news is, in GE2030, there will be more Team Captains … but they will need new Star Candidates to go with these Team Captains.

I am impressed with the voting results in tampines. The people didnt waste their votes on the 2 clowns. From a 4 way fight to a 1v1. Masagos and team have much thinking to do.
