If you use a non-jailbreak version, then, you can only use the Apps that Xiaomi wants you to use. Depends on which ISP you subscribed to, the "performance" of the TV streaming will be different. If your ISP has really bad connectivity to the CDN of Xiaomi, then, your streaming will be slow and have lots of "buffering". The experience will be no good.

That is why you will need to root or jailbreak the Xiaomi box so that you can install other Apps on it. Again, you will need to find the correct Apps for each ISP. Not all ISP has great connection to China. Having a jail-broken box will allow you to install apps such as PPTV, LeTV, Youku, Sohu, Baidu, etc etc...

Once you jailbreak your Xiaomi Box, you basically can install any Android App. But it is not recommend to do so. Because it will take you time to find the correct App for the TV screen size. I think some one has posted before, download the Sofa Butler App is one of the alternative. i.e. 沙发管家 http://app.shafa.com

Because, from here, you can download a lot of "China" Apps that is optimised for TV Screen. You usually find the App Icon has a "TV" word on it.

If you do otherwise, search the web from Google Play or Blackmarket, etc... most of the Apps are for mobile phones. So, you will get lower resolutions App, or even App that only uses mobile data. But again, I don't use Xiaomi to watch my Netflix / Hulu / iTV / Amazon Instant Video, so, may be you still can find these app on Google Play.

I just got my Xiaomi Box3 today and I'm having problems with iCNTV unable to connect. Tried changing DNS, but no use. Anyone having same issues?

Same here today suddenly cannot watch ICNTV. Called XiaoMi CS she told me to connect to my phone mobile network for 2 mins then switch back to wifi still did not work. Tried change DNS as per XiaoMi website also cannot.if you look at the setting "about xiaomi" the serial number on mine was blank hence the verification on ICNTV server failed.

I just keyed my information and xiaomibox MAC to ICNTV hoping they can do something.

Guys. Just got my box from q10. Jail broken.

I have gotten the USB to LAN adapter (looks and feel cheapo).

A 10mb file takes like 15 mins to download. (Same case for LAN or wifi). What's wrong ah? Wifi can blame on signal. LAN why so slow also?

At this moment, MiBox is not official for oversea used. So, sometime Geolock will happened if the CDN in China has done something. I used ViewQwest Broadband, has no problem. Have been watching 律政英雄，GTO Japanese show yesterday. Yesterday found an App 光芒体育 that has Astro Super Sport 1, 2 & 3. EPL was showing there, but the network performance are not that fast.

Is your network SingTel? Because my friend also just bought MiBox3 about 5 days ago. But for the first 3 days can see, then, since 2 days ago, he also got the server failed problem. But luckily can still use PPTV and other Apps.

If you are on Green Fibre (OpenNet) I think you still got a chance. If you are on Green Cable (Cable TV) then, depends on luck, you might always get buffering. HaHaHa

If you are on Red, may encounter Geolock issue.

Seems like ViewQwest did a good job, the video shows very fast connect to the Xiaomi native App. The PPTV seems fast too.

When I was in Jakarta last few weeks, I brought along MiBox3. And surprisingly, Jakarta can play VST very very fast. But there are some show cannot be load, but the buffering is stable, and the loading of show is fast. When I come back and use it on my ViewQwest, VST is not as fast. But ViewQwest PPTV, Sohu & Youku & LeTv is fast. Esp PPTV.

I think they got local caching in ViewQwest.
