For me personally if aesthetics was the top priority, I would go for the black. I feel that the watered 820 is still a workhorse and tat there wouldn't be much, if any, deviation in terms of experience in day to day usage. Also although there is no evidence yet, the underclocked 820 could be a good thing in terms of battery life.In your case, which would you go for? Bought mi pad from them. 3rd day gone case. Went to their shop, reject 1-to-1 change and servicing. What an "1 month" warranty lol.

Hi guys. Need some help.
If it were you guys, would you get the Mi 5 32GB Black or Mi 5 64GB White? Have lobangs for both of them. Dk which one to buy
Once saw some taobao sellers selling those colored tempered-glass screen protectors, maybe can try source for those black-colored ones hahaYeah the colour is a part of my consideration. Aesthetics is definitely one thing, but the reduced clock speed is something I'd take note of even though its not very important to most. Storage space isn't very important to me tho. 32 is more than enough. Haha because I have a friend who is able to get them at the retail price in china, so its easier for me.
Any suggestions perhaps? I feel that the 2.15Ghz in the Mi 5 64GB is the true Snapdragon 820 with no compromises but the 32gb is a really nice colour.
Yup2 but it seems like the cons are it covers up the mi logo and the home button is of the original color.Once saw some taobao sellers selling those colored tempered-glass screen protectors, maybe can try source for those black-colored ones haha

Haha the fact is people in China is trying hard to cover the Mi logo because to some the logo 'spoils the beautiful front of Mi 5' so some tempered-glass SP manufacturers comes up with such SP.Yup2 but it seems like the cons are it covers up the mi logo and the home button is of the original color.

Matter of personal preference I guess. From what I know only flagship grade Xiaomi phones have the logo imprinted on the front, whether that matters or not depends on individual.Haha the fact is people in China is trying hard to cover the Mi logo because to some the logo 'spoils the beautiful front of Mi 5' so some tempered-glass SP manufacturers comes up with such SP.

Its due to the firmware. With 7.2.6 u can still get 4G. Now at 7.2.8 I can only get 3G. This is a known issue reported at the official forum.
still stuck with 3G on starhub after the latest firmware updateGuys planning to buy this phone, please know of this limitation currently. Don't know if flashing it to the international ROM helps.
Likely a compatibility issue between carrier and phone. Its the same even with the latest 7.2.11 firmware though i managed to get 4G with a Starhub Prepaid card.
What about other Mi5 owners with M1 and Singtel?
if get from SG xiaomi or local hp shops, there wont be such problem
.. but only if they start selling
What firmware version are u using? I'm on the latest 7.2.11.0, 4G on prepaid M1, ST as well as SH. Have you check the APN settings?
Hey Grazy, i tried using both ST and SH. For Singtel, 4G network is stable on both sim card slots. For slot 1, I can get 4G and SMS but no calls. If i switch to 3G, there will be no network. For slot 2, I can get everything but during calls, network will change to 3G.
For Starhub, 4G network is available on both slot but very unstable (keep disconnecting). On slot 1, can get SMS but cant make/receive calls. On slot 2, can get 4G but calls and SMS will only get through on H+.
Seems like call & SMS dont work on 4G.![]()
Allright guys i found a solution. I put 2 sim cards into the phone and no more unstable network on SH. Now all is good. Guess this is the temporary fix before a permanent firmware fix i guess.
Good to know its working fine for you now. When I put SH on sim 1 for the very first time, the signal was not stable as well. But after some time the 4G getting better. For ST in sim 2, the 4G appears just after I changed the APN to prepaid instead of postpaid. Now M1 4G in sim 1 and sim 2 on 3G roaming mode for Maxis. Enjoying this phone very much.
Thats only IF/WHEN the Mi5 is sold officially in Singapore.
At this moment, there isnt much of a choice. I believe u can get 4G with the Global ROM but u'll have to live with the tons of bugs or stick with the official China ROM but deal with flaky 4G.
