One thing to note, this particular 128GB variant has the glass instead of ceramic back and it is in white color.

what happened to the ceramic version? did they stop production or something? the price suddenly so high :(

Xiaomi mentioned that production of the ceramic body for Mi 5 Pro is extremely long and takes a longer production process than a glass body phone.
In order to satisfy the needs for people who wants the Pro, they will be producing the glass body phone instead mainly to fulfil demands, the ceramic body will still be under production but lesser stocks.

As stocks for the ceramic body Mi 5 Pro is extremely limited, those who got stocks on hand naturally takes this chance to charge a high price for it due to limited stocks.

That promoter obviously lacking updated infos or just csb-ing to you, recent China phones have all along is able to support SG networks, as long you choose 联通版 phones.
However, China phones nowadays have been simplified, such that getting 全网通 phones also able to connect to SG networks.
