Just got a mi5 64gb... playstore installed need to restart after install.. but google contacts cannot be sync.. in the end inport using vcf format... this phone is very light as compared.to oneplus two, nexus 6p... need to put a hardcase as i believed the frame or structure is not so robust/firm...

Never mind the above. I found the way to resolve this is to install Google Calendar, then the Sync will work. After I remove Google Calendar, the sync remain. Kinda weird, but it is what it is.

Just install my tempered glass screen protector.. the display is quite good.. as good as nexus 6p amoled display in my opinion ...haha

Hi I have been lurking ard this thread for a while now.

Hope to contribute some info.

Regarding mi 5 global rom, a stable global official rom doesnt exist, and whatever developer global rom is not that good.

Your choices are

1. chinese rom then install google services afterwards, or

2. custom rom

I am using 2, from xiaomi.eu, which is a custom rom based on the china 7.2.13.0, but the developer already removed all the china content and preinstalled google. However you need to request to xiaomi to unlock your bootloader.
