for those considering upgrading max2, here's just my quick review after 1-2hrs of playing with it.
- First thing to emphasize that i'm most impressed with, the Stereo speaker! Playing a same video with mi max, the Stereo sound is soooooooo noticeable (loud & clear with sounds from both sides) & is such a huge upgrade!
- Camera wise, disappointing from what i expecting from IMX386. My Mi5s IMX378 still win it by a mile especially in lowlight & indoor. Back to comparison with Max1, holding both side by side aiming shoots, one can easily see that Max2 able to autofocus much faster & better (Max1 tends to off-focus oftenly under indoor/lowlight). So yeah, its an upgrade, but hopefully it can be optimised better with future software update to fully ultilise the IMX386.
- Battery life, unable to test yet. But one thing i noticed, this time around Max2 truely support QC. Tried charging the phone at 80%+ and my USB tester showing ~2.5A+@6V+=15-16W throughout. For Max1, QC usually only triggered when battery is within 0-60%
- CPU/GPU. Tried playing a few games of mobile legend at Highest Quality (not sure if this game is CPU/graphics intensive). Result: No difference from Max1, No lag. But one thing i noticed, Max2 appears cooler. (Max1 starts to warm up abit after few games from experience)
- Lastly phone design. Round edges, feels much better in hand (only if bare naked). From the back, both me & my friends' first impression is that its a iphone+ copy lol. However after putting on even the thinnest TPU transparent casing, its actually looks just the same as Max1 anyway.
So to round it up, given the similar price range for a 128gb Max1 vs 64gb Max2 as of now, i'll just say its up to individual if he's willing to sacrifice 128gb for the above
