I updated to miui 8 yesterday, and in the change log it shows that I'm supposed* to be able to hide contents of notifications - does anyone know how that can be done for WhatsApp and messaging?

Also, the new white background for the apps is ugly. Heh.

Well! That is one of the reasons why I stick to 8.2.3.0.:s22:

Hi Guys,

I accidentally dropped my mi max and broke the power button.
The battery is also broken.

I have removed the battery and when I connect it to power via USB.
The phone keep on rebooting with the mi logo.

Is there any way to boot the phone on USB power?

I think your power button got stuck or connector got problem. Last time my mi max also drop on floor and power button also got stuck. I go aliexpress buy the back battery cover and connector and fix myself.

I'm currently on 8.2.3 EU.

Can I just use the Updater app and select package to update, or do I need to use MiFlash?

Tried using Updater and it stayed on 8.2.3 and deleted the 8.5.2 zip file. Prime here...

Nope. You can't do that as eu rom and official rom are two different families of rom.

Take my humble advice. Stay at eu rom 8.2.3.0 likes I do. This rom is the best and super perfect.

The new Android 7 based rom is basically still unpolished at this early stage. Few critical bugs are as below:

1. Auto/Manual brightness bug.

2. Ringtone and media profile bugs for speaker and earpiece modes.

3. WhatsApp doesn't recognize custom tone. (No sound if you choose to use custom tones. Only stock tones produces sound).

4. The volume scaling between different types and sources of playback is inconsistent too.

5. The overall performance and speed of 8.5 is less than desired yet.

Even the eu rom 8.5.1.0 is crippled as it is based on the China rom. It has the same problems / bugs found as with the official Global 8.5.1.0 too. :(

No rom beats eu 8.2.3.0 at the moment. Just my humble opinion. :)

Oh? From EU to EU also cannot?
You tried 8.5.2.0 already right? Still buggy compared to 8.5.1.0?

EU rom to eu rom, can. They are within the same family.

Just cannot cross from eu rom to official rom using Update package method and via verses.

I had tried eu rom 8.5.2.0. Same old bugs and story as with 8.5.1.0. Nothing fixed yet. :(

That's why I rolled back to the most perfect rom; eu rom 8.2.3.0 :)

Anyway, practical, you feel no difference between an Android 7 based MIUI and an Android 6 based MIUI lah as far as operationally and visually are concerned.
