Yes. All Android 7 based MIUI rom have this auto brightness issue be it Stable or Beta.

Besides, the manual brightness doesn't stick after disabled auto brightness.

The only solution is to root to edit the auto brightness string from "true" to "false" in the Helium.xml or hydrogen.xml depending on your model.

I did that and it works so well.

Auto brightness behaves correctly. No super dim or over bright bugs.

Manual Brightness sticks permanently.

I tried File Expert but it prompt "doesn't support root directory in Android 7"
Already root with Magisk v14.

Ohh! Male it simple. Any text editor will do.

Copy the helium.xml out from root to internal storage using any root explorer and copy it to pc and edit it on pc and then copy it back to internal storage and then copy again to root using root explorer on the phone.

Assign Rw-r-r permissions and reboot your phone for it to take effect.

Yes, download the Recovery ROM (1396M) and follow the 1st method in the link below:

Make sure that you backup your Photos, Music, Important Files, Apps, etc. because they might be lost in the Flashing/Upgrading process.
