Haha. I haven't visit this thread for long time and you are still lelong-ing. :s13:

Now I wondering if I should just buy another set to replace my unit that is cracked. Just a small hairline crack and haven't spread out yet.:(

Hello! Hahaha. Me still hanging around here bah. Mi Max really worth my time... :)

At $219, why not grab a new set.

One more knock or drop, that hairline would become an undersea cable bah...all the icons will drop out from the cracked screen...all hell broke loose later...

Do take note it is a pre-order which will be shipped in 7 days by the seller. It is stated there.

Anyway, don't know WTF Windows 10 update this morning.... My pc suddenly cannot detect my Mi Max and stated as an "Unknown device" in Device Manager. .. :(

If anyone happens to kena, just update that Unknown Device to MTP USB xxxx from Windows list of ports lah. No need to browse to reinstall the Qualcomm driver as it will still fail to detect the Mi Max. :)

OIC! 128 then not worth it. The price is still on the high side.

Check the pacakge. Check for any dmg. Check gor fingerprint on the screen (beside yours if the scrren protector is removed). Check if the system working fine. Like on gps, bt, wifi etc.

Ok. Some info if you think that the notifications of some of your apps are not coming in or as frequent as it is supposed to be.

Besides putting the apps in Autostart, these 2 steps may help greatly or solve it totally for you.

Turn OFF these options and then reboot your Mi Max:

jtbc? i went to collect it was unsealed lei. they say unsealed to preload google play.

Check your About Phone, MIUI version (Better still if you can post the screen shot here for us to check) please!

When seller said " to load Google..." meaning that the preloaded rom may not be the official Global rom.

It may be a China rom or 3rd party rom or hacked rom.

If that's the case, you will need to miflash your Mi Max to a proper official Global rom which is 8.2.1.0 as the latest version.

Yes! Folks are right. Yours is a modified rom.

You need to flash it to the global stable rom 8.2.1.0 if you know what to. Else, your Mi Max will not get any further updates in firmware.

So far I've gone to search, and have tried using both the FastBoot and EDL methods of trying to flash global ROM into my phone, but somehow it doesn't work no matter how many times I try for each method.

For FastBoot method, the miflash software keeps telling me "specified cast is not valid".

For EDL method, the miflash(beta) software will attempt to flash but after 5 or 6 seconds, it will suddenly tell me "cant read COM port XX" (or something like that). No matter which USB port I switch to, to try again, the same thing keeps happening. I know my comp can detect the phone though, as it shows up in my list of devices if I just connect my phone to the comp as per normal if I dont boot the phone up into either modes.

I also read that some modified ROMs prevent the user from flashing to any other ROM somehow, and I've submitted my application to unlock the phone to Xiaomi.

Will I be able to flash after they unlock? Sorry for all these dumb qns, first time Xiaomi user here.

Use EDL Mode method:

For that error "cant read COM port XX" coz you did not install the required driver for your PC (Windows?) to detect the Mi Max in USB Debugging mode when you plug in.

You need to install the Quadcomm driver namely the 9008.

Download from here. It is either an .exe or zippy. So, you either run it or browse it to update the Quadcomm 9008 via Device Manager.

The duration of the flashing process should be bewtween 15 mins to 20 mins. Also, make sure you opened you MiFlash program first before plugin your Mi Max to PC!

Other bros may be able to give you a proper MiFlash process link. I don't have it off hand now!
