Just got mine last night and flashed it to the latest global rom. Loving it so far except the low volume while on earphones. Any solutions?

Actually, low volume via earpiece for YouTube only, right? That's is a known bug for the recent 8.2 series of MIUI awaiting fix.

Mp3 and video volume is okay via earpiece.

But in general. Any iphones iPad iPod the sound output confirm louder than Android phones. If you use headphones the max volume on Android not loud enough.

Earphones not much difference but still can tell.

I also don't know why. Flagship andriod also low volume output.

We must admit that iPhone/iPad speaker sound quality is the best . no horse run.

Good job! Shib!

Basically, just follow this steps:

> Download the zip file (Recovery rom 8.2.1.0) onto you pc.

> Copy it into the "Download" folder of your Mi Max and then select "Choose update package" from the 3-dots menu in the System Update.

> Browse to that "Download" folder on your Mi Max and follow the next instruction.

Thanks Shib and kelvinti for your prompt reply.

after I done with the above I also did a factory reset. my current is now

Android version 6.0.1 MMB29M

Android security patch level 2017-01-01

MIUI version:
MIUI Global 8.2 l Stable
8.2.1.0 (MBDMIDL)

Hmmm...after you have updated to 8.2.1.0 using the Recovery rom 8.2.1.0, your MIUI version should stay at 8.2.1.0 wah!

How come it went backwards to 8.0.3.0 again? It doesn't make any sense from your statement !:s8::s11:

Rough steps.

1. Download the twrp for helium.
2. Unpack it.
3. Flash using miflash (beta or official) thru edl mode
4. Reboot with vol + and wait, release if too long. (note: hold vol+ while rebooting. After vibrate or see mi logo, release power button first, if too long wait at the mi logo screen then release vol+ and wait a while)
5. Tada boot in twrp mode

Basically normal fastboot screen become twrp.

IMHO, edl mode is for bypassing all these lock bootloader things aka xiaomi device security. That's why the flagship mi5 they disable it, since i guess they receive complaints from normal users that received sets with vendor roms, which most of these users know nuts abt flashing.

Because some wants to ensure 100% clean phones. Well others want to install custom rom. Anyway edl mode on mi max isn't hard. It's simple. Once you get hold the hang of it, it easy as 123.

Yes mi max set don't comes with earphone. If you want it, i recommend the xiaomi piston 4 series. I using it and it's great for me.

So complicated sia. Flash here flash there. I just use out of the box and updated to lastest build through the phone build in update.

What's the pro of custom rom?

Bricking risk high or not?

Never mind...No time to try now! Just wait for 8.2.3.0 to pop up! :s8:

IMHO, there is always risks on whichever we do. Even updating via official method can brick the phone (although very rare).

Anyway, the guide I posted for edl mode is mainly for those whom still receive sets with modified rom or cn rom (which can be rare, but still reported by new users).

As long as you follow it well, then ok. However, if your IT skills is minimal, ya just stick with whatever you have.

Pro of customed rom can varies. Generally less buggy and consume less energy. Better ui in some. However some customed rom is junk. General rule, stick to those big player customed rom like xiaomi.eu, resurrect remix, lineage os, etc.

Your set, your choice. We don't owe anyone anything. Peace.
