Actually, I think delivery would be a better option.
Still get a day or 2 to slowly check and try out the phone rather than the short period at the shop.

Global ROM has 4 numbers. E.g. 8.1.0.3
Latest Global stable for 64GB/128GB is 8.2.1.0, 32GB is 8.2.3.0.
If the "Updater" app prompts that a newer version is available, it's a real ROM. Only real ROM can update via OTA.

If it shows 5 numbers, e.g. 8.2.1.0.11, it's a fake ROM.

Go to Settings, About Phone. Tap on "Kernel version" multiple times. It'll launch the Hardware test menu. Run through all of them.
Can bring a powerbank if you want to try if the phone can charge properly anot, and a pair of earphones too.

Thanks weisern, looks like I got a fake ROM then...
Stated as MIUI Global 8.1 (Stable), 8.1.9.0.0 (MBDMIDI) :(

Don't worry! Just flash it to official Global rom! It will be as real as it gets! :s22:

We all have done that! It has became a norm!

There are guides here posted by some bros..!

Yup, just flash the official ROM. Maybe can take the chance to try developer ROM.

There is this default setting in MIUI. It doesn't allow data roaming.

So, it is safe that when you are in overseas, you can use sim 1 for voice and your overseas sim in sim 2 will be automatically assigned to be used with data while in overseas. :)

Your local SIM in sim 1 will not be activated for data while you are in overseas

No need wah. Let's say:

Sim 1(M1)
Sim 2(DiGi)

When you are in Malaysia, Sim 2 automatically becomes a Data sim.

Sim 1 will not be used for Data in Malaysia as Sim 1 has became "Data roaming" state which is disallowed by that Setting in picture. Sim 1 cannot connect to Data at all while you are in Malaysia.

So, when you come back to Singapore, the scenario just reverses automatically by itself between Sim 1 and Sim 2.

When you are back in Singapore. Sim 2(DiGi) becomes a "Data Roaming" state which is disallowed by that setting in picture. Sim 1 becomes Data automatically in Singapore.

Basically, at any one point, only 1 sim card (Sim 1 or sim 2) is allowed to be used as Data depending on which country you are in, Malaysia or back in Singapore.

It doesn't matter which sim card slot you use for M1 and DiGi card. You can put M1 card in sim 2 and DiGi in sim 1 as well.

Got my point?

No lah. I was just stating the technical set up of the phone itself in term of data roaming prevention mechanism bah. Haha.

One still needs to choose which sim slot to use as Data after reaching oversea.

No fixed sim slot de. You just need to choose which sim to use Data after that. :)

Enjoy your trip. :)

Ya I installed the software on my pc already but when I tried to unlock it just stops halfway

Hmmm...I can't remember clearly now but I think that you either need to:

Step 01:
Apply for unlock code here first if you have nor done so: http://en.miui.com/unlock/

OR

If not, you must enable these 2 options in Developer Options first for that MiUnlock software to unlock your phone. You can try it again by enabling these 2 options and see how it goes first before start from Step 01. No harm give it a try! :s22:

May be we can google search for an app that can automate the selection. Haha!

However, very risky sia if that app screwed up the sim card selection. It is better to do it manually. 2 seconds job nia! Don't be lazy! =:p Haha! :s13:

Hey all,

I recently started experiencing this on my Mi Max, hope to get some answers or solution here.

I have Second space running and when I'm on it, sometimes the screen becomes non-responsive in app and when I press the home button, a popup comes with the following message:

Unfortunately, System UI has stopped.
Send bug re...

Which then allows me to choose whether to report or cancel.

I have been reporting this issue constantly when I first encountered this problem but its seem like an recurring issue.

Any workaround or why this is happening?

Issue only happens on 2nd Space. No prob when its on the original space.

Thanks

Hi,
Just want to ask current owners of mi max if they have fm radio on the phone. It seems that not all models have it. I am mostly keen in the 128 gig one.
Thanks
