Just some additional info for people interested....but not a deal breaker though.

MI Max cant read exfat nor ntfs format sd card and can only read fat32.....meaning u cant store any single file larger than 4gb.

Just in case your video files are larger than 4gb

They support VFAT but I've never used that format before... bit annoying since I was hoping to use my external Sandisk USB (the one with a USB-A port on one side and Micro-USB on the other) to watch movies/videos stored on there.

QC usually works for the 1st 50%/60% of the battery (from 0%) to quickly charge it up, then it will slow down back to normal charging speed. 3 hours seems a little long though. Shouldn't take more than 2.5 hours? My Redmi Note 3 takes around 2 hours to fully charge from 0.

While Qualcomm states that its Quick Charge tech can fill a battery to 60% in 30 minutes, it can take an hour or more to finish the other 40%. The reason, again, has to do with the regulator. Once a battery starts filling up, the regulator needs to find new cells to place power and avoid overcharging the cells. Think of it like a water balloon. You can turn a hose on nearly full blast at the start, but if you don't slow down as it fills up, the balloon will burst.

Hi all,
I'm looking to get a low cost phone with good battery life, and something that is overall a good (enough) phone. I've never owned a Xiaomi before, but the price and specs of the Mi Max look good. Can someone here post a quick review of your experience with the Mi Max so far?

My use case:

1. Reading PDFs for work, E-Books
2. Writing documents in Microsoft Office
3. Listening to music
4. Watching videos occasionally
5. Browsing the internet occasionally
6. The typical email and instant messaging applications

Requirements:
1. Must have long battery life, as I move around a lot.
2. Must have decent audio output through headphones (not the high end type, just the simple Ajays types).
3. Good clear screen for text display.
4. Reasonably tough and decent build quality.

I was also interested in the Mi 5, as shown in the Mi SGP site, but that doesn't seem to be offered on sale anymore.

I'm currently using the following devices:

1. Nokia Lumia 1020 (2013 model), running Windows Phone 8. But battery life is poor.
2. BlackBerry Passport (2014 model), running BlackBerry 10. App support is lacking, but has decent battery life.
3. I have used an LG V10 - great screen and display, but lousy battery life. I don't need that kind of performance, due to my use case.

Your advice is appreciated - thank you!
