Is there an issue with the wifi? Is very very slow even though connected to 5ghz, like lower than 1MB. Only 500KB

Yah, play store and upgrade miui

I am not sure. But it could be that they (Google & Xiaomi) set a limit on each device download bandwidth. This is to make sure that users can always get a download but just that it may be slow.

PS : This is my assumption, so don't quote me.

faced this issue with my redmi note 3 previously. after resetting the phone and proceeding to update the default apps. took me 30mins to finish updating everything.

worse than tortoise.

I'm not too sure if it is related as this is an old-time solution for Xiaomi phones. :s8:

Changing the 5Ghz band to use Channel 36 might help or speed up the wifi connection for 5Ghz. :s8:

No harm trying if you have not done so! ;)

I notice that when I charge using the Samsung Quick Charge adaptor it is slower than the one that is not Quick Charge type....

why huh?

Really depends. Without a usb voltage checker you can't tell for sure. You could have been charging the MM at a different battery stage compared to the other charger, too many variables. Maybe you were using it more, etc.

Yes, happens to me when downloading larger apps from Play Store...

Also when downloading that 1.4GB MIUI update...

Got free time I would wanna try kelvinti's suggestion to change to Channel 36 on 5GHz, but not sure how to do it :)

Ohh! :s8:

You must login to your router at home. I supposed you have the login ID and password to your router!

For Dlink router, default ID is Admin. Password is Admin.

Then, go to the wifi setting or sorts. Find the 5GHz band setting and change the Channel 11 (Usual default channel - It can be difference depending on which brand) to Channel 36.

Reboot your router for the new Channel 36 to take effect! :s8:

It may or may not help! No harm trying. You can always change the Channel back to its default number.

I'll not good with this, but by setting the channel to different numbers, does it meant that connection will be by different speed?

I always thought that the channel numbers will be the same speed, just a matter of congestions if too many devices are connected via a particular channel number.

Can someone advise?

It is more about the stability and consistency of the WiFi connection rather than speed if I'm right...

That's why I said it may or may not help greatly in term of speed but again it may help indirectly for a better speed as a result of a more stable and consistent connection...

Need a WiFi technical guru to advise more here... :)

I believe it's because most users leave their routers as default, usually 11,, causing interferences/jamming in that range. By changing to alternative channel, less interference thus better connectivity. Shd not have bearing on speed.

Slow download from playstore is a known issue. I think nothing to do with channel settings since speed test looks normal.

Channel 1, 6 and 11 are only used by 2.4GHz frequency. 5GHz frequency has more number of channels and leaving it to Auto works well most of the times.

I can't seem to flash to the Mi Max Prime Global ROM. When I use fastboot, it says Mismatch device and image. When i use the updater, it says I can only update using Dev images.

I'm on latest Dev ROM, 3Gb/64Gb phone. Any kind souls?
