my friend tried that, seller say not his problem because is already more than 14days.

That's the reason why i have the phone to use now because he gave up XM altogether because of such seller and of course, imo XM has a part to play as well.

This type of seller should blacklist them. It really not much of an effort on their side, and a simple gesture of logging out would make everyone happy.

Hmmm... But I thought whenever one does a factory reset, MUIU would ask for Mi account and then the Mi account would be signed out before the factory reset process starts?

Sorry, a bit of blur sotong about it coz so far all the few Mi Max I sold previously had no such problem from my buyers leh..

Nope it doesn't...

the seller put the rom and logged in with his mi account and activated find mi , so everytime u reset the phone it says the mi cloud is activated and the phone can be used only if u login to the mi acouunt on the phone ,. which is the seller account . so cannot proceed.

I see...:s8:

Thanks for the info..! :s22:

I think this is a security feature by Xiaomi which tracks based on IMEI. So you can flash the phone with whatever ROM but once it detects that this IMEI is a lost phone, it'll prevent you from using it.

But I remember that previously, I could skip the process and login with a Gmail account. After that, I can login with my Mi Account.

Does this mean we cannot sell our xiaomi phones as 2nd hand as currently our phones are locked to our Mi account? The buyer may get into the same problem as your friend.

Can sell. Just that we need to login to our Mi Account at :

https://i.mi.com

Then go under "Connected" to delete the phone that you are selling away to "unbind" from our Mi Account.

Does any of you encounter this?

Cannot unlock the phone with fingerprint scan when it is charging?

OK, important to note this next time when selling off. Thanks.

Or...

When selling your phone, and before pass it to the seller, do a factory reset in relation to your Mi account right in front of the seller after he has checked your phone as per usual practice.

With that, the phone is deregistered officially from your Mi account and buyer will not face the Mi account issue when setting up his phone. :)

That has been my practice. :)

May I know how long does it takes to update? Mine has been updating for the past 30mins. The progress bar already reached the end but timer still counting.

Bro, what is the status? Done flashing successfully?

I just received my Mi Max non local set, but with global ROM. I hv 2 issues...

1) phone signal keep disconnecting
2) only get 3G

Is it a faulty set? If yes I will return it.

Report back after flashing is done..:s22:

Trying to understand anirudhks's firend issue. So his problem is they can't log out first before resetting, because they need the seller account? Sholud have just brought the phone to the seller shop, and ask him to log out from the phone.
Don't know what's with the seller intention to do this. Evil
This one I think seller flashed a global ROM and then forgot to remove his account , this is not a used set but a new one the user I helped is same who requested few pages back Amelia80 . The user did not do a factory reset instead directly flashed a global ROM from fast boot , so when ROM booted up it had cloud lock from seller . Since we flash a custom ROM mi cloud doesn't get activated so can bypass ..

Have been doing some research on unlocking bootloader and flashing. It seems approval from xiaomi to unlock will take 10-14 days!

Has anybody requested unlocking approval before? How long did it take?

Apparently the reason to lock is to prevent stolen phones from being reflashed easily so hence the added procedure. But I am just wondering what xiaomi does to check before approving the unlock request. Why do they need 14 days!!!!
