can root and use stable rom anot ah? i dont want to use dev rom cause sure a lot of bugs

Another thing I discovered is if I want to use apps like App Locker, must activate it and have it running in the background.

It won't just fire up and run by itself.

Thanks for the info. Got mine already just now after lots of reading through this thread hehe. My first Xiaomi phone ever. I'm able to do OTA update for MIUI 8.. Currently at 7. Is the update recommended?

Yup it's global ROM. To be exact, it's Global 7.5 stable 7.5.6.0 (MBCMIDE).


Update available is V8.1.6.0 (MBCMIDI).


Now my phone is restarting by itself. I only setup two things. Fingerprint lock and installed Eleven Plus from Playstore. Tried opening the app and since then it keeps restarting. Still at MIUI 7. Hmm..

MIUI8 8.1.6.0 is way smoother, speedier and more polished.

7.5.6.0 is so old and it was kind of a transition version between MIUI7 and MIUI8...

Just do a factory reset on miui7 now to see how it goes.

Then, update to 8.1.6.0 one more time. That should clear whatever apps compability issue that may crash the phone. No panic...

Flash back to official 8.1.6.0 via EDL mode! The current version of firmware is quite good!

You will lose your unlocked bootloader and root after flashing to official rom!

I have already disabled the MI audio enhancer.

However, the volume playback on earphones still very soft even though I tuned to 100%.

But volume output via speaker still ok lei.

anybody knows alternative to tuning up volume on earphones?

Thank you..

After you have disabled the Mi Sound Profile! You have got to kill the Music app or whatever apps you are using the media volume output by clearing the Recent Apps for force close the apps to recover the volume!

The moral of the story...Don't touch that Mi Sound Enhancer no more, yoo!

Finally collected my Mi Max from Simder!!! Can't post pictures cause my OnePlus One has terrible camera and takes bad night shots.
Otherwise, it's a black beauty, front black, back also black haha. The black front SP feels more like a sticker than tempered glass SP, there isn't the "tap in the middle and it spreads" effect. Otherwise it's great.

Rom only 7.4.16, probably to root it for Titanium Backup and Xposed, any good guides/links to follow on how to unlock bootloader and root, etc etc? Was thinking of flashing Cyanogenmod but I'll try out MiUI for a while with Nova Launcher.

Edit: Just applied for bootloader unlocker at the Mi website but I have no idea what it's for, haha.
