I just unlocked my device too

Encountered the same issue as you then i realized that i need to sign in to my MI Account on my phone as well before i proceed with the unlocking process

After that, unlock is successful

FYI, i never enable USB Debugging or OEM Unlock like what you mentioned

no they say if we try once and the tool say unknown device then have to wait for a week and try again, their server will update our account info... So painful process to wait so long to unlock. This new process they started from the miui 7

Its just a modified China rom claimed to be global. Redwhitemobile also has the sets with "global" rom
