If they do that more future problems for themselves. Customers who factory reset they phones will go back and complain why google apps disappeared. Might as well flash a stable modified rom with no issues.

I have a simder modified global rom and I have no complaints except for the lack of updates.

Signing in and syncing with google with no issues as well.

China rom with gapps still need to meddle with the settings for syncing to work properly. Not as easy as a global rom.

Fully agree with you.... not all are really tech savvy... especially most like the easy way out....

Being in official china rom for 64/128 sets can be a pain in the a** for some ppl..... settings need to be set properly... permission needs to be given properly.... just take the google contact sync for example will do...

Besides that.... while searching for google play apps link that is being click outside of google play will indefinitely opened in xiaomi app store... and xiaomi app store will try to update the apps for google play apps.... annoying and useless chinese information for most of the users...

These are just some down points of the official china rom... and will differ from users to users...

However!.... it always seems china rom is most stable in many sense.... but that's for me previously....

You got a choice of unofficial global rom like xiaomi.eu..... which is pretty stable and google playstore is the default appstore.... but u will need to flash twrp which not all will know how to flash..... but will be simple once you get a simple guide on it..... besides.... it seems like xiaomi.eu stable rom have ota as stated on the forum.... cannot confirm this since i using the weekly version....

So far it is stable for me... currently on helium 6.9.29.... no problems at all.... But i do miss some of the chinese apps...

Anyway sidenote.... xiaomi.eu roms are based on china rom...

For those newbies who are on vendor roms for 64/128 sets..... all i can say is that..... as long no weird things happen when using it..... continue to use until official global is out ba.....

typical of any new phone thread.
First, the hype -> comparison -> buying -> how to -> reviews -> non-user critics -> kpkb (esp.battery life/sot) -> accessories -> rooting/flashing -> updates> go back to step 2. Think it's the 4th round now.

Good thing, this thread has very little kpkb, more praises. True price-performance value.

As someone said earlier, why bother with, a $120 premium for a $200 phone? After all the sellers are local with 2 weeks warranty to spot/resolve issues with defective phones, which to date only a couple.

For the price of around $200. It is worth to take the risk of buying the export set.

Afterall, phone quality control is pretty good now and only the unlucky few will encounter failure within that so called the "1 year warranty".

We must think positive, aren't we? So, just grab it. We don't think negatively that we are going to be the unlucky one within the 1st year.

Just my 2 cents as far as I'm concerned about buying cheap export set.

Of coz, for those high end and high priced phones, we don't take the risk. We buy local warranty set for sure. :)

Thats right, price is too much of different. If the phone failed, just get another one and use old one as spare part.

If Xiaomi cannot last for 1 year of normal use. Then it may not a good choice to start off with Xiaomi anyway.

http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-xiaomi-unveils-mi-max-prime-4gb-ram-and-128gb-storage-space

While the 6.44-inch Mi Max arrived on our shores a month ago, Xiaomi quietly launched an upgraded variant - the Mi Max Prime in India.

The Mi Max Prime sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage space. In comparison, the Mi Max runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor and 3GB RAM with 32 or 64GB internal storage space options.

Priced at ₹ 19,999 (~S$413), the Mi Max Prime is currently only available for purchase in India. There is no word on its local availability.

If can diy, which looks easy internally, spare parts replacement easily worth more than $200.
Screen $100
Battery: $80
Motherboard: $150
Buttons/ports : $20.
I've spare set to offer replacement svs..haha

I managed to get H265 video working on HW+ decoder and also AC3 audio working in MX player, I'm now a happy camper since I only buy purely it for video.

It's just sad that sdcard support only FAT32 and not exFAT.

So the MI MAX 128gb version renamed as "PRIME"? 400+ is 100 more than 32gb local set.

The upgraded specs useless one lah, might as well save the money for the next year version.
