Thank you. Will check it out. I saw a unit on display at Challenger in Jurong Point, but it was locked with a password. Wasn't able to have a play with the software.

Usually you can ask staff to unlock the phone if it's been locked. I found most stores had it locked when I wanted to try it but eventually I asked so Challenger staff unlocked it. I think it was Bugis.

On my recent trip to HK/SZ, observed something interesting.

Went to Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen to look for additional covers for my Max. Almost all of the shops there do not carry Xiaomi case, mainly Samung and iPhone. I am surprise because Xiaomi is supposedly one of the top selling brand in China, so I expect many shops to be selling its hp accessories. The few shops that have Xiaomi cases only carry for Mi5 and Redmi Note 3. In the end, I managed to found one from the night market in Laojie.

Guess getting it online from Taobao is the better option.

It's not as popular as I would've thought... but the ease of finding accessories even in Singapore and SLS is indicative of the popularity.

Electronics sure have failure rate, so far seems okay here. I'm using for two months. Some ppl bought direct from taobao and using since May.

yes 2 flat pin IIRC, I didn't even take it out of the box, have other chargers to use. But yeah, just get a simple adapter. $1+ can find in neighbourhood hardware shop.

I saw some sellers selling Mi Max for lower than $300. Global ROM and the words on box are in English. No warranty. Are these sets almost same as local sets selling for approx. $330?

Unless u know how to root or customized the phone without bricking the phone. Then go ahead and buy export version. I owned a China Redmi note 2 before and there are apps that only can update thru Mi store (just like a Google play store)

Since u r user who just mainly use for surf, call , point and shoot pictures. Get the local version.

At Carousell. Just need to search for Mi Max. The price difference is $260 vs $330. It's 32 gb, brand new sealed set

I notice that when I charge using the Samsung Quick Charge adaptor it is slower than the one that is not Quick Charge type....

I am not sure. But it could be that they (Google & Xiaomi) set a limit on each device download bandwidth. This is to make sure that users can always get a download but just that it may be slow.

PS : This is my assumption, so don't quote me.
