Bro, what is the status? Done flashing successfully?

It went on and on for 1 hr and I pulled off the cable. Phone still ok. When I tried to re-flash again, it flashed within 1 sec and "success" but phone was not updated. :(

Have been doing some research on unlocking bootloader and flashing. It seems approval from xiaomi to unlock will take 10-14 days!

Has anybody requested unlocking approval before? How long did it take?

Apparently the reason to lock is to prevent stolen phones from being reflashed easily so hence the added procedure. But I am just wondering what xiaomi does to check before approving the unlock request. Why do they need 14 days!!!!

2-3 days but since I am already on nougat can't be bothered with MIUI

yes the feature is for that but I feel there are more genuine case over stolen cases that requires unlocking

you really dont need to unlock bootloader if yu want to go over to CM14 or anyother ROM , TWRP can be flashed from EDL mode so no need to unlock bootloader.

But if I want official global stable ROM then have to unlock right?

My objective is to have as close to local set ROM so that I can do OTA upgrade easily without having to meddle with miflash or TWRP.

I also read that I can lock back the boot loader once the global rom has been flashed successfully. Is it necessary to relock the bootloader for security or otherwise?

This is my screenshot using FASTBOOT mode. Something isn't right. 1 sec to update but phone was not updated.

Tried entering EDL mode by pressing both Vol +/- and Power. Entered a black screen and what should I do next?

Do the update via EDL not fastboot. Blank screen is correct. You should be able to detect COM instead of the fast boot device ID (ede****)
