Where do u find the permission for gps?

Goto your google map. :o
Then tap on the left of search bar you will see your account, places timeline etc and find setting. :o

Then I enable all possible setting at google map. :o

Generally I do not think these setting matters much. :o I think waze is triggering GPS and when waze search and locate the GPS the google map is functional as well. :o

Noting your message, I downloaded Google Map & Navigation app (been using Waze only previously) this morning, reboot the pad without triggering Waze, open up Google Map & Navigation and it was able to detect my location immediately. As Broadwalk mentioned, note that I was sitting 1.5m away from the window.

Would suggest you at least download Waze to test if the GPS is actually working. Can delete afterwards if you don't use it to navigate.

I think mipad 4 GPS is not strong one. :o To be fair, I live high floor and I really sit near or next to window then I can see the GPS. :o I enable waze so the GPS searching will be faster I realise. :o

Haven't enter this thread for a long time.

So is there any global ROM for this Mi Pad 4 that updates to the latest OS and has official google pay store support? I am still using the stock version and I don't dare to update the OS due to previous bad experience where the Play Store got into some issues.

There Never Will Be A Global Rom For THis Device.
Reason Being, This Device Is Not Released Globally.

If you want to move away from miui. You can manually unlock and flash a GSI image for stock android.

OK thanks.

You have any step by step instructions to follow? I am not familiar with Android.

So can also update the Mi Pad 4 to the latest Android OS?

Read and understand
and
Read and understand again what you are doing and going to do.
Can potentially brick your device

Best to understand what is and how to
1. unlock your device.
2. Fastboot
3. ADB
4. flashing a custom recovery.

Found this u might want to refer to as well

PS. have to mention.. not really an easy task for new users who are not familiar with how android works.. but.. well no venture no gain. at your own risk mate! ;) enjoy

I think for Xiaomi's stuff, if managed to last 1 month without issue, chances are that you won't run into issue one. Quite reliable.
