What's the verdict?

I don't understand 100% as well, but from what I gather, he said the Honor V7 Pro is the worse of the lot. Only saving grace is it's back cover material..

No clear winner, depends on what you need and preference

To be expected... there was another comparison video on the China tablet thread which showed the back cover of the Mi Pad 5 falling off when closing the tablet and keyboard combo... that's a bit sad... I think Xiaomi tried to be like Apple but without the corresponding ecosystem...

I have the pad 5 pro, without comparing to the Lenovo I still think it has a very good construction. Not too sure why they say the edges are rough. Coming from ipads 5 pro seems very good.

I think a laptop would be much better... especially one with a stylus... you're going to use it for school work which means you'll need Office for Word or Excel or PowerPoint... it's much easier to use these on a laptop and the laptop is a lot more versatile... if you're really on a tight budget, I recommend buying a China tablet 2-in-1 Windows tablet which comes with keyboard and stylus... less than $700 all in and comes with at least 11.6" screen... can check out the China tablets thread for some recommendations...

But you're hellbent on an Android tablet, and using for school work then you have to check if your school uses Google Classroom and apps... cos if Google Apps are used then the Matepad 11 is out cos it doesn't support Google Apps at all... for the Mi Pad 5, you can sideload and install GMS yourself... so if Google Apps is a must, then definitely the Mi Pad 5... otherwise can consider the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 which is a better productivity work horse cos it has PC Mode which helps a lot with word processing etc type of work...

Agreed with you. Laptop is the best no doubt at this point of time. Pad/tablet may need more time to develop like Laptop. I think sooner later will be able to do as laptop. Xiaomi Mi Pad will have PC mode too. If urgent, can sideload PC mode which some fan extract from Mi Mix fold. The Miui under Mi Pad 5 currently still considered very new but will improving over the time.

I don't own the mi pad 5. Saw this from another thread. Try your luck.

1) Reset the tablet.
2) Go to Xiaomi App Store/Gets App and search 'Google'
3) After searched, scroll all the way down, you will see 豌豆搜索 a pea icon things.
4) Click in the pea and jump out another search results. You can see 谷歌下载器/GG谷歌安装器, download it then follow the steps inside to download the Google Play.
5) Must allow all actions if the notifications pop up as asking allow for Google or something else.

I searched "play store" in xiaomi's getapps store. The familiar Google play store icon will come up in the search with a high download count. I just installed that and it's working great. pad 5 is also a certified device in play store.
