bro, I just have a go at taking out the back casing, and I must say it was really really tough!!

I gave up. ordered a big phone clamp opener and see whether it will help.
Really tough doesn't quite describe it, huh? It's more like damn near impossible. Took me a lot of time, effort and at the end, bruised fingers to pry it open. I can fully understand why you'd given up, I damn nearly did myself.

yeah, near impossible. I have two sucker attached to the screen, pulling it with my finger, while other hand was using a pick to push out the frame, but it just doesn't open wide enough for me to slot the pick.

at least you succeeded. there isn't any tape inside, right? if so, I must say the build and connection is damn solid. I'm just waiting for my clamp opener and see whether it will help.

You wanna hear the best part? After fitting in the battery and closing the case, I'd then found the sticker strips (to stick the battery to the back of the assembly) and realized that I'd missed them! The thought of reopening the tablet to apply the stickers did not appeal to me, so I said, "Screw it!", and left it as it is. IIRC, there was much movement with the battery in place anyway, so I believe that it wasn't 100% necessary. Do remember to stick the battery to the assembly when you (hopefully) have yours opened.

I broke my fingernails on December 2019 trying to open the case to change battery.
All the tools that came with the battery broke. In the end, I bought this tool to help me break open.

Tool is good but need patient. If not like me, many many scratches on the casing. (I think the metal tool is also slightly bent lol)

my tool came, but the clearance isn't wide enough to open the casing.

I tried from the side, it seems that the screen is being pull out from the frame.

I gave up.

Wah lau eh, looks like I lucked out with my attempt to change battery by actually being able to change the battery in the first place! Really damn hard I must admit, and I don't think I'd have bothered again should the new battery turn out to be a dud, which (thankfully) it isn't.

I was actually contemplating a Samsung 3/32 j+ mSD slot tablet I had seen at Challenger (would have ordered online coz cheaper). Fortunate the successful battery change for my Mi Pad 4 has spared me the extra expenditure.

After removing 2 screws at the bottom, Mine was a bit tight to pry, i opened going in from the 3.5 mm audio jack area downwards. Dun need to unplug antenna cable. There are pull tabs to remove the battery from the tablet. Before you close back, power on the tablet to test your battery first.

I think I'll have another go from the top.

I last change my MiPad4 Battery on the 2019..

I've have taken better care of the battery this time round..

- By not over charging [Turn off power source when it's done])
- Turning off (instead of leaving it on standby) when not in use
- Limiting my usage of the device (To purely watching Youtube and some light surfing)
- Using Xiaomi Original charger (No quick charge)

However, the battery still gets bloated..

So either the replacement battery is bad, or the battery life is only 2-3 years..

With the use of a suction sucker, I'm able to open it more easily this time round (probably case loosen due to brute force last time)..

Still waiting for the replacement battery to arrive.. (Cost ~$25 including shipping)

after revisiting this thread, I made another attempt to open up my MP4.

I tried to use the opener to pry open it continuously, and finally thought it was finally opening.

as I saw some sticky stuff in between, I used my heat gun to heat the rest of the screen and loosen the double sided tape. and after going through the heating and prying, I finally removed the LCD screen from the body!! damn! I was removing the wrong parts.

but with the LCD removed, it was much easier to twist, flex and pry the mid frame from the back cover, and I eventually removed the back cover.

so now I'm leaving my MP4 with a loose LCD screen, not sure whether to stick it back with double sided tape or glue, though it still has some glue residue holding the screen barely.

but I attempted a 2nd removal, it is much easier now with the LCD screen removed. just take note that the LCD screen connected to a cable, which will easily come off when lifting up the screen. it's easily put back, and don't think there is any issue when pulling it off.

Oh wow.. Maybe opening via the LCD is the correct way after way.. I did so much damage (brute force) to my phone when trying to pry it open [after learning it from Youtube]..

I think the LCD use a special adhesives repair glue, I saw it in some Youtube video.. I remember one of the repair video guy specifically mentioning about never ever use super glue to repair screen..

SOcj0xL.jpg

The case looks uneven and have permanent gaps.. I did tried to smoothen the bumps with a pilar. This extends to the sides as well. (I guess I got angry [broke my nail trying to open with bleeding finger last time])

But this time round I made two mistakes

1. Opening the case without ejecting the sim tray [Now the sim card tray cant close fully]
2. Use pen knife to scape off glue on battery compartment and accidently cut the mainboard ribbon cable [1/5 width of the cable]

Now my battery is unable to charge (Not sure if it's due to the cut..) and I've already ordered a new mainboard ribbon cable (~$5).

I've also bought a new my sim tray (~$4).. hopefully can fix it.

I think it's glue, doesn't look like tape to me. that's why I used a heat gun to soften the adhesive on the LCD. I think I'll get the b7000 glue to stick my LCD screen.

I'm not sure whether it is the correct method, but the back cover and the mid frame is really very tight fitting.

I noticed that easier way to remove the mid frame is to start from the centre part. try to lift the mid frame up from the back cover, and you'll see a depressed hole. slot your tool into it and pry the cover away from the mid frame.

your case really jia lat sia. maybe I suggest to you, go get a refurbished back cover from taobao. I got back cover for my mipad 1 and 2 too.

was that the original glue on the battery? when I take out my battery, it was the quick removal tape, and it was pretty easy to remove.

you should have pour some alcohol into the back of the battery to soften the adhesive.

if I remember correctly, the left ribbon is connected to the LCD, while the centre 1 is connected to the bottom speaker and charging port.

Ahh.. Yeah, it's the centre ribbon that I accidently cut. I guess that solve the mystery as to why my battery couldn't charge up. lol

The tape broke so I had to scape the battery out and left residues, the only alcohol I had is the Isopropyl alcohol 70% (dont want to risk it, so I decided to use penknife to scape it.. end up accidently cut the ribbon instead..)

I think I will just leave the case as it is.. Since most likely going to replace the battery in another 2 years later.. might damage it again haha.. [Also, I think it's time to start sourcing new tablet]

Hi all,
I’d a Mipad 4 LTE,
The brightness I’d set to maximum, but it’s still very dim.
Would like to check what’s the problem.
Does reflash OS helps?
As it’s quite dark to use, anyway I can use computer to reflash it?

TIA all.
