What is a "scarily high proportion of complaints for you"?. In the Tmall shop, the 60" version has around 7.000 people who gave the TV an average of 4.8 stars, the 55" version has 12.000 votes with also 4.8 stars...
So if out of 7000 people around 300 have complaints, then this makes 5% of the people who rated the TV on tmall complaint about it, then probably half of them is not able to really configure the TV (many are not able to get sound out of the soundbar) or just didn't collect enough information (some were complaining that the screen itself only can be connected to the soundbar). And what is also important to consider: Not everyone who buys the TV will rate it. I guess Tmall sold more then 7.000 TV sets in China. Also, many customers who are satisfied will never rate the product on the website.

I don't want to defend Xiaomi here or anything and I strongly recommend everyone to carefully read through reviews beforehand. But I don't agree that based on a few complaints and ONE thread in the xiaomi forum we should talk about a "significantly high number of complaints". This might scare people for the wrong reason...
I am referring to a scarily high proportion of complaints among its 追评 only, as compared to the 追评 for most other products i have browsed and bought before. Different people may analyse tmall stats differently, this is my preferred method. Nevertheless, the price is too tempting, so i might take the risk afterall, a few months later. A good point that someone raised was that if the mainboard spoil, can pay a relatively small amount to replace.

Also, just because I posted only 2 links of complaints does not mean there are not more i found but didn't bother to post.

Everyone, please do your own research and risk assessment. I know it is tempting to want to believe the tv really is a high quality product at bargain prices because of the marketing model, and that bad reviews are only a small percentage of the good ones, just that they appear more because probably it is selling very well, and probably the competition is badmouthinf xiaomi. And so on.

Ok, agree :)
For The MiTv3 The mainboard itself is in The soundbar anyway, which right now costs 999RMB. Probably after some time you get all the hardware components on Taobao even cheaper 😋
The screen itself should be good, as xiaomi basicly buys it from LG. Maybe someone with a TV3 or some more research can help to find out what pannel exactly is used and then find more information. I "only" have the MiTv2 and had no sound system in my home. So what I got for the money is highly satisfying 😊 but I'm in China without the risk of shipping...

Its pretty much the same thing if you head over to the letv forums and you see what feels like a scarily high amount of complaints about issues and defects for their own brand of tvs sold. But without exact numbers, its hard to quantify what is the ratio of defective sets against total amount produced and sold. As just a layman user, i think we should not read too much into it but any potential buyers must recognize this is a risk they have to take and weigh the pros and cons themselves. End of the day, i think the mantra is "Buy, dont scared. Scared, dont buy."

Thanks i1magic and ddca for your responses :)

I might get the PT360 if that means I get to keep all the foreign channels plus the DVB-T2 SG channels.

I'm not getting any DVB-T signals when I use the Digital TV auto scan feature on my MiTV2 (no digital ch shows up) is that normal?

Also is there a chance of the PT360 hardware becoming incompatible after android firmware updates?

I link my Mi TV 2 antenna point to the wall antenna point. That allows me to received all the FTA channels from M'sia and Indonesia. The digital HD channels are via my Starhub TV box now.

If you are referring to the built-in decoder that Mi TV 2 has, yes .... the only HD / digital channel that you can get is probably HD5, the rest will be SD.

Built-in tuner for Mi TV 2 is DVB-T.

The one that Spore is moving to is DVB-T2. Both are "Digital" in a way, except the DVB-T2 is the 2nd generation.

Mine is version 1.20 (stable) and I'm guessing that all the Xiaomi TV3 shipped in Feb 2016 would have this version installed as it shipped. Movies and TVB on Gitv cannot be streamed. Any idea?

Download and install the Shafa Market. Then download and install 布丁视频 and TV Plus 2.0.

Test and see whether can you watch the content from this 2 app.

1.1.70. When I connected my TV to wifi 1st time, it automatically upgraded to 1.1.82. But I rolled back to 1.1.70 and disabled auto update.

Wah ... which Mi TV you got Mi TV 3?

Ok. But you do know that the TV will still prompt you to upgrade the firmware every now and then, right?

Tell me about it. When I first got the Mi TV 2, the YouTube app was so good on 1.1.70. Till somebody "accidentally" "upgraded" it, then sian liao. *sigh*

I seriously hope that you are right.

Yes I have installed the YouTube app. It can be found in kodi too thank you. The TVB seem to be very weak in connection though.
