Those reported seem on China local version rom. Mine is on Global version rom.

Also, there are several versions of Redmi 2 for different phone networks

Likely import set also means you have to install google play yourself.

Not sure if it's worth it. How much cheaper is the import set, compared to official $169 pricing?

Just go for it. Such a cheap phone, no need to think so much. Even if there's no warranty, I don't think it's even worth it to go all the way down to repair something that's worth $169.

Use and throw away. Spoil? Just buy new one.

Redmi2 got notifications issues deh, at least mine has. Even set to 'allow notifications', show 'app icon badge', 'show floating notifications' still won't notify when msg comes in such as watsapp and wechat. Need to go into the app then shows up.

No issue with mine. Restart your phone. Might be a rogue process causing this anomality

same here. I factory reset the whole thing, just install whatsapp, still happens. in the end got a mi 4i and is much happier now.
