TAKE my advise, don't get the redmi 3S

that 2g/3G bug is a bitch and xiaomi is not releasing any fix.

Think XM wouldn't fix any damn thing on this 3S. If wanna fix it would had been done long ago.

Sometimes I wonder if it's a chipset issue or Firmware.

strangely I have never met any network issue before on my 3s (global stable ROM). is a decent phone with great batt @ really cheap price

Same here. But I did the preferred network solution when I first set up my phone. No network issues so far. Been using for 1 month.

My dad has one Redmi 3s damn #%^* phone.

He kept kana edge. What I notice when I perform a manually network scan all 4g and 3g wouldn't appear on his Redmi 3s. Reboot phone and do a manually network scan again same thing

All the telco 3/4g network disappear. Only have m1/StarHub/ SingTel 2g network available.

tried using the other slot?
tried other SIM cards?
settings auto network + LTE preferred?

1. Using On Dual Sim
- Sim 1 Starhub 3G plan (Never had an issue with Mi4I)
- Sim 2 Starhub 4G plan (brand new sim card issue by company in DEC 2016)

2. Swap Sim 1 and 2 between two slot same issue

3. Yes Had already set the Primary sim (or active sim) to lock to 3G network. It just wouldn't stay there..

Redmi 3S is slightly more superior than the Redmi 4A, just that the network bug on the 3S spoils the experience.

I was just about to give that a try but reviews are now saying a lot of features now cost a bomb, including switching off bands? Is there another?

Having said that, I can't notice many drops out of ST-4G though my ROM appears to be Chinese, not Global. I only got the language changed into English but I still get a lot of stuff turning up in Chinese that I can't read.

i am not sure.

you might gave a good unit, try flashing the global rom and see if you have any issues

there is no dual 3g on this phone , one slot is 2g while the other is 3g/lte

No this is talking about primary Sim. The secondary Sim only used for SMS. I don't care if its on 2g.

I talking about primary Sim which default should be 4/3g (whichever highest)

The secondary Sim I know would always be on 2g.
