Received my note 2 yesterday, discovered the screen has this yellow tint, the same issue I had wirh my previous redmi note 3g. Changing the color saturation setting to cool only tone it down slightly. Yellow tint is very obvious when compared side by side to my current redmi 2.

Xiaomi admits that Redmi Note 2 with yellow screen are from displays made by small domesic producers, and not from Sharp, AUO or LG. However their president claimed that these screens are better than Sharp :s8:

In August, right after the RedMi Note 2 was launched, Xiaomi was troubled by controversy that it had replaced the screen of the RedMi Note 2 with a lower quality one, Tencent Tech reported.

Some Xiaomi customers have found that their RedMi Note 2 screens have been yellow. Customers, after taking apart their phones, have uncovered screens made by small domestic companies, Tianma and Jingdongfan, in place of the manufacturers Sharp, AU Optronics and LG as mentioned in the original advertisements.

Xiaomi Co-founder and president Lin Bin, claims that screens made by Tianma company employ Low Temperature Poly Silicon (LTPS) technology and are actually better than those made by Sharp. As for screen color, Lin put this down to a matter of personal preference.

Lin apologized to customers for neglecting to ensure quality processes in the manufacture of the RedMi Note 2.

For what you are paying the price for, of course there needs to be some price cut at certain areas. To be honest, the screen is decent enough. If you install kernel editor, and make some settings, you are able to access MiraVision. You be surprise how good your tianma screen turns out to be after your own colour adjustment. Only issue is that MIUI by default overides MiraVision and you get the crappy colours again. So this is something resolvable via software. Just need to wait for someone to provide an overide solution.

Is the charging current 1.5A, which means it's not exactly fast charging like the other flagships?

Yes.There is no fast charge tech so it takes about 2hr plus to juice the battery from flat to max.
Since it is the redmi line which is also known as the budget line, they won't be investing fast charge tech into it. Otherwise how will this product differentiate itself from the other range of products by Xiaomi.

Redmi Note 1 also had the same problem which was rectified by a screen replacement at the local service center. My Redmi 2 doesn't have this problem and it is a AUO display. Coming from Redmi 2, I am not used to to the yellow display on Red!I Note 2.
And I do not think that this "tianma" screen is better than sharp or auo.

are u referring to yellow tinted burn spots (which i previously encountered in my note1) or a general yellowish screen display overall?

my note2 is fine thou, just hope it wont get "burned" tinted spots over time like in redmi note 1.

using the 16gb version , i feel that its good enough already . i think the 32 gb will drain the battery even faster den the 16gb ver since the 32gb is abit faster.
U can get a memory card to increase the storage , so yah :s12:

General yellowish screen.

Think different batches have display from different suppliers, some are lucky to get the Sharp or AUO display, while unlucky ones like me have gotten the Tianma display. :(

For 16GB version, check with seller whether is it TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE model.

For 32GB version, there is only one model - FDD-LTE.

Read this discussion thread on Singapore mobile carrier support for TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE:

Tdd is on trial here. Not commercial deployment. Some China hp does support tdd and fdd in single chip. That explain Why you see it support 4g here.

Then check whether your mobile carrier supports the above two models on this link:

All Redmi Note models have microSD slot.

It was reported in the Chinese forum that the TDD LTE AKA China mobile version also support FDD LTE band. You need to go to the network menu to enable the unlock network option to open up the access.

Is 85% tianma and 15% AUO. Cant remember where i read that info before. You can search youtube for the difference in the two screens. Generally tianma is better for eyes.

No lah. Prime version no drain lah. 0.2ghz more power only and that is if it is in performance mode. Doubt users will use performance mode during daily usage.

If you are a basic user, won't recommend you to buy export phones as there quite abit of knowledge you need to know like if phone spoil, what are you going to do? If you aren't than awesome, a bang for buck phone.

Yup. However, to use as daily driver so far not enough statistics to show if there is any problems.
