have to use the .tgz and miflash method to go back. that's what I did for going back to 7.3.6.0. 7.3.6.0 still the best so far.

Use this method?

Where to get the .tgz file for 7.3.6.0? I only has the .zip of 7.3.6.0.

First thing first, the Mi Sound Enhancer that cause the media volume to drop must be fixed first as I'm very particular about good sound quality for music !:s22:

How is the Note 3 as a phone for someone in his late 60s who doesn't use any apps, but would need an easy-to-use and responsive smartphone for emails and maybe WhatsApp?

Is his eye sight still okay?

If it is so, then nothing else is better with such low price tag and awesome battery life that can last many days and yet it is a very very responsive phone.

One can sets the font to XL so that it is easy to read on such 5.5" phone.

The size of the phone is really very comfortable to hold and operate even with one hand.

regarding back up... how to extract the back-up data?
if didn't extract out, flash liao, backup also kenna wipe.
i mtk user.. no sd card.

the local back up is stored under internal storage\MIUI\backup\AllBackup\yyyymmdd_XXXXXX.

before flash, copy the folder with AllBackup, as on clean install the AllBackup folder doesn't exist under MIUI\backup.

so after flashed paste back the folder... then select restore?

yes, remember must have the AllBackup folder.
and you can choose what to restore, from settings to individual app.

my only gripe is the miui mail app data is not backup. or there might be others which i m not aware of.
generally, this method is fast but you need to copy in and out with pc or otg.

Ya, his eyesight is ok, but would that make a difference?

Oh! I mean if the eyes sight are not too good, then you may need a bigger screen than 5.5"...

Anyway, set the font display to X or XL would be perfect for easy reading!:s22:

Go ahead and buy it! It's one of the best super value handset with awesome performance that you could find in recent years! :)
