Yes unfortunately Xiaomi SG has replied to my email saying that they only have the 2GB/16GB version of Redmi Note 3 left. Seems like they are getting ready to sell the Redmi Note 4 instead :(

By the way how do I identify the Special Edition?
The Special Edition is almost identical to the SD650 Pro, just that the SE is slightly taller than the SD650 Pro thus the SE will not be able to fit in the SD650 Pro accessories.

Hello stylechap, thank you for the explanation. I have managed to find a few sellers. May I know how can I install a Global ROM?

From my limited ROM flashing knowledge, you have to apply to unlock bootloader from xiaomi. Look in MIUI forum for more information.

The application need some time to process and is not 100% success rate. But your seller may be able to help you with it.

Otherwise, the redmi note 4x is announcing in Taiwan on 21st. It comes with Global ROM and I'm expecting it to cost NTD5999.

That's about $275 SGD.
Thou it's not much of an upgrade. more like downgrade, base on processor and rear camera (MP). [Review says camera is better for N4's 13MP cam].
Only upgrade is 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM.

A Better Review Of RN3Pro vs N4

Well..regarding software stuffs, it's either you know and it's easy or you don't know anything and risk bricking it.
It's up to individual to see if it's worth to pay extra to be problem-free

Just another question, have anyone here purchase a phone at Mustafa before? What is the difference between the local use and export use? And do they actually provide warranty for export sets?

Their staff was explaining to some of us, "export set can only be used in overseas, IDA doesn't approve it for use in SG."

Export sets are non local sets.
Not distributed by local authorise dealer.
So no warranty locally.
The shop MAY have shop warranty, from few days to months.
When they put as export sets, they don't include GST (if I remember correctly).
Also the export set might not be 100% same as local set. Like different variant.

May be different model with different spec.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 sold in SG is LTE (4G) enabled, GT-N7105. Then there's non 4G model, not distributed but local Samsung GT-N7100. If you google, there's other model as well. If I'm not wrong, Korea's model is also different if you search in Qoo10. Then there's also dual SIM model.
- Thou it's less messy nowadays. Usually only US locked models, CDMA model, etc.

Other brands have similar issue.
Why so any model? Cos of price. Different country uses different band spectrum for 3G and 4G. And the chip usually do not cater to all. If it does, price also increase.

Also for China branded phone, there's their local processor MediaTak vs Global processor SnapDragon and others.
They processing speed is different and also support for bandwidth is different.

I see, so how do I can I know if it supports local band if the seller says can only be used overseas:s11:

The Note 3 I found online are mostly Special Edition upon further reading. Don't know if I should get it or not, or continue to hunt it locally in SG since the price isn't much difference... :(

All we can say is that ask them let u see the package and u can look out for the band support in local radio bandwidth. Next google up which band is been use in SG den u can know if the phone can support local band or not.

Which sites are you looking at?
Lazada/qoo10/taobao carries non-special edition set.
So far I've only seen aliexpress selling the special edition.

I was looking at Aliexpress... I was reading its product descriptions that's when I realized all of them are the Special Editions...

I'm searching on Qoo10 now.. Don't seem to find any good deals. Mostly cost $260 and upwards up to $400.

Will now try Lazada again... Hopefully can get something less than $240 as budget is tight now.

I've seen normal versions in aliexpress but they're 2G ram and 16Gb storage.

Qoo10 is only cheap with coupon and qpoints.

Yea, 2GB / 16GB is totally insufficient for me... Currently 2 GB of RAM already lag on my A8... And I used up 28/32 GB of my disc space already.. LOL!

Last option is ask my friend to help me to go China to buy for me...

Just an alternative option, since you seem to have insufficient storage.
I just received e-mailer from dealextreme, they're selling Zuk Z2 4G ram 64Gb for $230+.
This is China set with no google playstore also.
Googled the model "z2131" first result produces ROM reflash guide which don't need bootloader to be unlocked.

Assume nothing goes wrong in reflashing, you got QC3.0, better CPU and GPU,better ram and storage.
But smaller screen, 500mAh less and no card slot

Lenovo? Hmmm interesting, never really look into them or ASUS before. Yeah the one killing my storage space is my apps. Otherwise I got a micro SD space to back up my files. Will go find more information on this Zuk Z2 first. :)

I think ezbuy search engine is only for approved product to be shipped via prime service.
You can use their buy-for-me service by pasting the link in the search box. This comes with a premium with lousier exchange rate and agent fee.Don't count on this service if you're trying to snatch product which is on sale at a certain timing.

Tmall are sellers whom are approved by alibaba(or whatever) and certified reseller/shops which carries the product they're selling.

Hello rover75, thank you for sharing. My issue about getting the Special Edition is due to lack of casing and tempered glass protection availability because of the additional 2.5mm in height. I have a tendency of dropping my phones so I need a more robust case...

First world problems. :(
