Just got a redmi note 3 - 16GB snapdragon version from newstar. Self collection. Still selaed. Probably still original china rom, hopefully no added bloatware. Lol.

Are you on miui 8 beta? Maybe the firmware still not optimized yet. If on current miui 7 then something is wrong as it only takes 0.5s to unlock

I'm still on the stock firmware, MIUI7. From putting my finger onto the sensor till screen turns on is about 2-3 secs.

Maybe I'll do a factory reset tonight and see how is it.

I got mine for $240 at racecourse road. It is an export 3gb/32gb model from India which is already running on global rom.

You might as well buy an export model. At least is brand new.

How's the battery life? What are the improvements other than UI? Any major bugs?

I will be downgrading back to 7.3.6.0 MIUI7 stable firmware for now.

Battery life... Well, I haven't really monitored it yet as I keep flashing. I shall know about it this evening as I'm going to do a full charge now.

RAM management in MIUI8 improved significantly. Personally, low light/night shots improved as well over MIUI7!

No major bugs so far. Strangely, my game play is good now after a wipe out Fastboot miflash it. No more distorted display and hang during game play! :)

I had that game play problem 2 days back using non-wipe out Recovery update method. Is it related to the 2 different methods, I really don't know.

The only micro bugs I encountered so far are that when unlocking phone using fingerprint sensor, no unlocked sound was heard occasionally. That's a tiny matter lah!

Also, the option to change the Message delivered tone is missing. Therefore, you have to bear with the loud default tone.

MIUI8 is definitely snappier and smoother even with this first public beta rom. I guess that the official global rom in August will be even better in term of performance. :)

Gapps has been installed.

The MIUI version is 7.4 | Stable 7.4.9.0 (LHOCNDD).
Isn't that newer than the ones on http://en.miui.com/download-301.html#438 which is Version: V7.3.8.0.LHOCNDD (MIUI7) ?? :s11:

That 7.4.9.0 might be an unpublished China beta rom preloaded by the shop.

Yes! 7.3.8.0 is the latest official China Stable rom. You can just miflash to downgrade it now.:s22:

Alternatively or rather more sensibly, you can miFlash it to the latest Global rom V 7.3.7.0 or miFlash-beta to MIUI8 Global Beta 6.7.5 rom. :s22:
