I just bought a redmi note 3 from Mobile Hardware (@ Burlington Square). Got a huge problem where ads keep popping up when I use whatsapp, chrome etc. and its very annoying. The phone came rooted and the person from the shop flashed it back to the original version, but the ads still kept popping up. Anyone know why?

They bs you lah. Confirm tampered rom. Just go miui forum site and use fastboot flash.

I highly doubt its from the apps I downloaded as I only have apps from google, whatsapp, facebook etc so far.

It's better for you to flash to stable ROM first then manually install Google Apps

Sorry think I might have been abit unclear.
- When I first got the phone it was already rooted. I proceeded to install whatsapp etc. and noticed the ads keep popping up
- Went back to the shop and told him about the root, he proceeded to flash the phone (not sure using what) to the original version

The ads are still appearing after he flashed the phone so I'm wondering what is causing it.

Received mine yesterday. Everything seems smooth. Ran Antutu with result as below. Good solid feel and not filmsy like the other redmi. Love the fingerprint sensor. Only problem I now encounter is my whatsapp not receiving msges until I open the app. Very sure is not network issue. Somehow only whatsapp sleep after a while and doesnt wake up. Still trying to find a solution.

I had the same problem with my RMN2 移动版 when it was 1st released and I bought it from Axxx82. Keep having this blue little robot at the home screen and sometimes will have ads. Went to SLS(those shop selling 小米 products) and see the display set and it also has the blue little robot. Probably comes with the China ROM by default. Maybe you can run a virus scan and see if there's any malware or adware.

mine just arrived to SG also. but i haven go collect. hope i will get used to it. if not i will let it go. haha!
