I'm using redmi note 4G for a while now...fantastic phone for such a low price.

The batt life is GREAT, 16hours of standby and almost 6 hours of screen time...

Yes, Redmi Note series' phones all have backlit buttons.

Need help pple... my xiaomi just propmted me that xiaomi is trying to access me goggle contacts when I clicked watsapp... I choose deny and now all the contacts r not showing and say no watsapp contacts in my list... pls help me solve else I cannot use watsapp...

Look for this file,
Rename to update
then go into recovery and flash

After that u can update write privilege for 3rd party app to write to SD card, freedom to in app purchase etc

I rooted my Note 4G as per above from a website.
it also talks about partitioning the SD card to 2 partition which I also did.
the issue I have is the 2nd partition that can be ext2/3/4 or fat16/32.
mine can only use fat16/32 in order for the link2sd mount script to be successful.

however, after creating links that moved the files to SD. If you reboot the phone, the 2nd partition becomes unformatted and all files lost....

can share what is the 3rd party app without going through the partition thingy?

been using the phone for about a week.. so far so good suits all my basic usage and needs. phone has been smooth except from a few bugs on unofficial custom rom. Good phone at such a low cost.

Enable External SD_Card Write Access (Rooted User Only)

Go to ROOT Explorer
Go to /system/etc/permissions
Open the file "platform.xml" via text editor
At the location:
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
< group gid="sdcard_rw" />

Add the following:
<group gid="media_rw" />

Yah. English with Google store.
Can still install Xiaomi Market from Xiaomi site.

Any kind souls can help, couldn't solve the below 2 issues, noob user here:

1. realized that no option to sign out/ log out of Google Playstore.

2. Whatsapp - all the contacts are not showing. even when receiving whatsapp msg, senders' name does not show anymore.

1. You have to delete off your Google Account on your phone.

2. Go to Security app, go to 'Permission' option, after that go to 'Monitor App Permission', scroll to 'Contacts' and search for Whatsapp.

miui sg forum mods say the update is not the full SG ROM... proceed with caution
