hm the 12mp back camera isnt the sony sensor from the indian version.

Sent from Xiaomi REDMI NOTE 4 using GAGT
Different sensor, it could be the IMX362 which is the same as on the Meizu M6 Note(魅蓝 Note6).

according to a new chinese article, the spec sheet lists the camera as the S5K2L7. also used by the meizu note 6.

and the front camera is the OV13855, used in many redmi note 4/x's primary camera.

I dont know about the samsung sensor but the front camera is a definite downgrade from the indian variant.

The good news is that the chinese variant is running on android 8.1.0, the codename is still WHYRED so flashing the indian ROM should work and we dont have to wait for another global rom release.

The price of the 3/32 note 5 makes redmi 5 plus such a bad buy.

If we flash the indian rom, wont we be downgrading our OS to 7.1.2? And im nt sure if that rom is compatible since the hardware is different.

Some say the trade-off of the front camera leads to a better rear 12MP camera.
I would say it's better IMO, at least now the rear camera has the Dual Pixel technology and the larger pixel size.

The S5K2L7 is pretty decent too, just hope Xiaomi won't screw up with their algorithm.

price update :

3/32 = sgd$260
4/64 = sgd$340
6/64 = sgd$410
These are all chinese version, with chinese rom and LTE band is FDD B1/3/5/7/8 and TDD B34/38/39/40 (no B41, which is needed for the the new TDD LTE for singtel/starhub/TPG)

Think it is still better to get the sgd$169 note 4 3/32 :)

people who want the note 5 wont even consider a note 4. the sd 636 and the cameras are the reason for upgrading. otherwise they would have gotten a redmi 5+.

Yeah, the powerful SD636 and the dual camera setup on the Note 5 are reasons to get it, or else the 5 Plus is good enough :s12:

Saw it, the earliest shipping takes 1 month++. Might as well wait for qoo10 sellers :s22::s22:

agreed. the prices are fairly inflated with the cheapest being ~270 usd for the blue version. the shipping time also makes it quite pointless when qoo10 sellers sell close to chinese retail price.

Im thinking that Mi SG probably will only bring that 3GB and 4GB ram.

Between Redmi Note 5 and Mi Mix 2 (which is currently selling at $549/- at Lazada), if it worth waiting for RN 5 ?

I guess the price for Mi Mix 2 is really worth it, right ?
